Working with the Director, Financial and Regulatory Reporting Initiatives, the Senior Manager, Financial and Regulatory Reporting Initiatives, will be responsible for leading and managing the implementation of new regulatory, and financial including Intake and Analysis, and interpreting new rules and regulation and manage the process of delivering accurate, timely, consistent and value-added reporting to Senior Management and Financial Information Committee (FIC) agencies OSFI, Bank of Canada and CDIC and Statistics Canada. Additionally, the Senior Manager will work with the Director to enhance the systems, processes, and controls ensuring data integrity in our reporting. The role requires an individual who has strong regulatory reporting knowledge, technical, project collaboration and analytical abilities, is an effective communicator and shows willingness to acquire new skills and industry knowledge.

What will you do
 

  • As a key member of the Financial and Regulatory Reporting (FRR) Initiative team the individual will be responsible for leading and implementing new CDIC/other regulatory requirements including analyzing and interpreting new rules and regulations, assessing reporting implications, designing, and coordinating data collection processes and reporting templates, actively exploring report automation opportunities, communicating and providing guidance to finance units on new reporting requirements.

  • Lead and review the various CDIC annual reporting and by law changes and provide guidance related to CDIC related issues including Fast Insurance Determination Certification – which involves extensive knowledge of CDIC rules, existing CDIC reporting and deposit products including source systems.

  • Accountable for establishing and maintaining an effective financial/regulatory control environment, including operating guidelines and a RACI collaboration framework for effective partnership with businesses, platform, finance technology and regulatory strategy delivery teams

  • Participate in industry working groups to discuss preliminary plan for implementing the change required by regulatory developments and assign primary ownership to the business partners.

  • The Senior Manager is responsible for assessing the potential impact of the regulatory changes and communicating the same to stakeholders’ business, legal group, and compliance. Recommend potential course of action the bank should adapt in terms of new process, policies, and procedures.

  • The Senior Manager is responsible to be the subject matter expert CDIC /regulatory filings for ongoing design, implementation, and maintenance of certain key control processes. The position requires good understanding of regulatory / financial requirement, ongoing communication with regulators and business units in various geographic locations is required to resolve reporting differences / issues. This includes communication to senior management through issue life cycle: identification, recommendation, implementation, and monitoring.

  • Work with internal and external auditors as required and support the audit deliverables.

  • Foster collaboration and high performance with key stakeholders including platform financial control teams, IT, Group Risk Management, Liquidity and Accounting Policy Group, striving to be a center of knowledge and excellence with accountability in resolving all regulatory reporting matters in Canada.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5 to 7+ years relevant reporting/business experience and working with various automation tools and large data set.
  • Ability to process complex legislative/regulatory matters and apply it operationally.
  • Accounting designation CA, CGA, or CMA
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, analytical and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills with presentation ability to dissect complex industry rules and regulations that would resonate with employees at all levels of business.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles and control
  • Manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating with team members, manager and other stakeholders
  • Desire and motivated to learn, challenge the status quo, and propose bold changes for current processes particularly with respect to streamline processes, increasing efficiency and furthering execution excellence.
  • Document complex subject matter though strong written and oral-communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle high-pressure executive level requests on an ongoing basis
  • Strong technical skills including advanced excel skills.
  • Self-motivated and well-organized

Nice-to-have

           

  • Strong knowledge of RBC systems, products and reporting processes and exposure to CDIC reporting
