The Portfolio and Decision Analysis group (PDA), part of the Business Innovation (BI) organization, is uniquely positioned within Pfizer to guide investment decision-making to build a pipeline of compelling breakthroughs valued by patients and shareholders. Within PDA, the Enterprise Portfolio Management team (EPM), strategically advises leaders on portfolio investment and performance improvement decisions across Therapeutic Areas.
The Portfolio Management Team (PMT) is an enterprise-level governance body chaired by the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer (CSIO), comprised of Executive Leadership Team members (representing BI, Commercial, Research & Development, Finance, and Global Supply) who make strategic decisions (e.g., go/no go) on Pfizer’s pipeline.
The Senior Manager – Enterprise Pipeline Governance, reporting directly to the EPM Lead, is responsible for leading activities that enable clear decision-making and transparent communications on behalf of the PMT. This role will work closely with Portfolio Management colleagues for each Therapeutic Area, as well as the Head of PDA, and the office of the CSIO. The role will also work on PDA data governance and other initiatives within the EPM team.
The role requires strong communication skills, good leadership judgement, discretional management of confidential information, collaborative teamwork, with qualitative and quantitative analysis skills preferred. It’s a unique opportunity to work across Therapeutic Areas and across business functions to directly contribute to Pfizer’s purpose.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and coordinate a near-term Watch List (next 6 months) of upcoming PMT interactions and Early Commercial Strategy Review (ECSR) Advisory discussions, liaising with Portfolio Management, Commercial Development, and Decision Analysis colleagues in Therapeutic Area.
- Monitor system-generated dates for medium-term (next 18 months) key milestones (e.g., Pivotal Start/DP3, Decision to File/DP4), to support long-term resource planning.
- Plan meeting topics, coordinate meeting operations, write and manage approval of meeting minutes, and complete meeting debriefs for managed meetings (PMT, ECSR, PDA/Commercial Development meetings).
- Clearly and effectively communicate decisions to TA Officers, Commercial Development Leads, Strategy Governance Teams, and other key stakeholders.
- Document decisions and actions for progress tracking and longitudinal assessment of interactions and decisions.
- Understand and clearly guide Portfolio Management and Project Teams on PMT and ECSR processes and expectations for each type of interaction.
- Maintain PMT and ECSR process documentation and webpages (e.g., DecisionPoint RoadMap) to ensure up-to-date reflection of PMT charter, expectations, and best practices.
- Manage Microsoft Team sites to ensure appropriate access and document storage.
- Maintain knowledge management databases with final versions of governance documents, organizing for quick and easy document retrieval.
- Periodically collect feedback on PMT and ECSR processes and recommend changes to processes to address feedback and improve decision-making. Work with cross-functional teams on initiatives to recommend process improvements.
- Represent PDA in the formulation and execution of cross-functional projects within BI.
- Monitor data governance within EPM to ensure data cleanliness and alignment with data standards.
- Support ad hoc EPM initiatives including ad hoc qualitative and quantitative analyses.
- Support management of the EPM annual budget including raising POs. approving invoices, and projecting quarterly and annual expenses liaising with EPM team members.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project or portfolio management, management consulting, strategic planning, and/or portfolio analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business or medicine/science preferred.
- Highly collaborative, with a track record of building productive networks and teams.
- Previous experience in meeting operations or project management.
- Experience working directly and independently with senior leaders a plus
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Work Location Assignment: On Premise
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,800.00 to $201,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
