Senior Manager Engineering IT Infrastructure
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering IT Manager to lead a high-performing team that delivers the compute, storage, tools, and licensing infrastructure essential for semiconductor design. This leader will partner closely with our engineering business units to provide a scalable, efficient, and resilient engineering compute environment. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge, strong leadership experience, and a background supporting semiconductor or EDA-intensive environments.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–5 engineers.
- Recruit, retain, and grow top technical talent.
- Inspire a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
Technology Strategy & Architecture
- Architect and deploy innovative solutions aligned with engineering and business needs.
- Communicate strategy, roadmaps, and technical direction to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for automation, scalability, and emerging technology adoption.
Infrastructure & Operations
- Oversee large Linux environments (RedHat or Ubuntu) used for semiconductor design.
- Manage NetApp storage systems including NFS, quotas, snapshots, and performance tuning.
- Oversee backup and archiving solutions (Rubrik preferred).
- Administer engineering license servers such as FlexLM, RLM, and vendor-specific managers.
- Ensure reliability and security of DNS, LDAP, and core network services.
- Manage HPC clusters and batch scheduling systems such as Slurm or LSF.
- Implement metrics-driven operations, including KPIs, dashboards, and performance tracking.
- Maintain monitoring and alerting systems (Nagios, SolarWinds, or similar).
Cloud, Automation & EDA Vendor Management
- Design and manage hybrid cloud or AWS-based infrastructure for engineering workflows.
- Build automation and tooling using Python (infrastructure automation, data pipelines, operational tooling).
- Collaborate with EDA vendors such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Mentor/Siemens to manage tool licensing, deployments, and issue resolution.
- Optimize cloud and on-prem resource utilization for compute-intensive design workloads.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in IT engineering or infrastructure roles.
- 3+ years of experience leading technical teams.
- Deep expertise with RedHat or Ubuntu Linux systems at scale.
- Strong experience with NetApp storage and NFS-based environments.
- Experience with backup and archiving platforms (Rubrik strongly preferred).
- Hands-on experience with FlexLM or similar license server technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, LDAP, DHCP, routing).
- Experience managing HPC environments and schedulers such as Slurm or LSF.
- Experience building KPIs, metrics dashboards, and operational analytics.
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, SolarWinds, Prometheus, etc.).
- Significant AWS Cloud experience including EC2, IAM, VPC, and storage tiers.
- Python automation experience (scripts, CLI tools, infrastructure automation).
- Experience collaborating with EDA vendors such as Cadence and Synopsys.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a semiconductor, EDA, or high-performance compute environment.
- Familiarity with license optimization or usage analytics for EDA tools.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Understanding of design workloads and common semiconductor design flows.
