This leader will set the editorial direction, guardrails and priorities for employee content and channels, working in close partnership with the content owners and the day-to-day editorial planning and production teams. The role blends editorial leadership, multi-channel governance, and frontline enablement to deliver clear, consistent and relevant employee communications at scale.

Define and maintain simple editorial frameworks and decision rights for multiple channels, including intranet, email, Slack, frontline apps and closed-circuit TV.
Maintain and refine editorial KPIs for employee channels; partner with channel and content owners to review performance and act on data and feedback.
Lead a high‑performing team, providing clear strategy, direction and coaching so their work drives enterprise‑level improvements in employee channel performance and content quality.
Local and crisis communications
Provide internal communications leadership for major campuses in Southeast Michigan on ongoing messaging and higher-profile issues.
Support issues and crisis communications as needed, applying sound judgement, calm execution, and alignment with GM’s overall communications approach.
Skills and experience:

Experience guiding other senior communicators and elevating their content (e.g., editors, content leads).
Proven ability to build strong, trusting relationships and align senior stakeholders and competing priorities around a single vision.
Experience designing communications for multiple audiences including frontline workers and office-based employees.
Experience with issues or crisis communications, operating with urgency, discretion, sound judgment and calm execution.
