Your Business

Within Business Banking (BB), the Digital Banking Domain is responsible for transforming the way our business customers interact with us — across platforms like CommBiz, CommBiz Mobile, the CommBank App and NetBank. The Process and Performance Improvement Centre of Excellence supports the Domain through strategic, crew-agnostic initiatives and continuous improvement programs.

Do Work That Matters

Reporting the Centre of Excellence (CoE) Lead Process and Performance Improvement, you’ll play a pivotal role by owning and executing the Domain’s data strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, and overseeing the development, quality, and continuous improvement of data products and assets.  This is a unique opportunity that is key to the Domain’s delivery of a word class digital experience for our business customers.

More specifically you will:

  • Own and deliver the data strategy for the Domain, ensuring it supports overall business priorities
  • Perform the role of the Domain’s Data SME and steward, responsible for ensuring the quality, integrity, and appropriate governance of data across the Domain
  • Ensure compliance with Group Data policies, procedures and guidelines, including relating to metadata, effective and ethical AI, guardrail thresholds, and risk controls
  • Drive the uplift of metadata practices, ensuring data assets are well-described, discoverable, consumed and governed
  • Partner with the Group Data Office, Business Bank Technology and other relevant stakeholders to embed data management practices and improve data maturity across the Domain
  • Engage with leaders across the Domain to provide visibility and influence over enterprise data practices
  • Work and collaborate with Crew Leads, product owners and other functions to execute the data strategies, data products roadmap, meet data delivery requirements and business priorities. This includes providing hands-on support related to data management processes, artefacts and deliverables where required
  • Foster an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are welcomed and valued
  • Support process improvement initiatives within the CoE and assist during CommBiz outages where customer communications are critical

  • Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to data product management, data governance, or platform delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across business and technology teams.
  • A solid understanding and experience in data management frameworks, data lineage documentation, metadata practices, and regulatory compliance, particularly in relation to business processes and rules.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture principles would be well regarded.
  • A collaborative and inclusive approach that promotes psychological safety and continuous learning, regardless of your leadership title or background.
  • A commitment to removing bias and promoting equity in data practices and team culture.
  • Risk Mind-set – all CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience required in data management disciplines such as risk, compliance, audit, actuarial or analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience in profiling, cleansing, validating and interpreting complex data.
  • Proficient in defining and monitoring data quality metrics, with hands-on experience using data management tools, databases, data warehouses, and data integration platforms.
  • Proven ability to investigate data issues and propose actionable solutions.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into data definitions and rules.
