The Senior Manager, Data Governance & Analytics drives transformative change in how data is governed, accessed, and used across RMIT Vietnam to build a trusted, integrated, and sustainable data and analytics operating model that enables confident decision‑making, regulatory assurance, and institutional performance. This involves developing a data driven culture and increasing the overall data literacy of the institution through strong stakeholder engagement and communication.
This role holds institutional accountability for data governance, data‑related risk, and the operation of an effective data and analytics service model across RMIT Vietnam, while maintaining strong alignment with RMIT’s Data & Analytics function in Australia. The role provides authoritative oversight of data practices, definitions, and reporting, ensuring executive confidence in institutional, statutory, and performance reporting.
The role will engage with a broad range of key stakeholders across the University to understand how existing data are used to support their functions and business processes, and prioritise, govern, and align data and analytics products to enterprise requirements.
Establish and lead a Data & Analytics Community of Practice (or hub and spoke model) across RMIT Vietnam to align standards, tools, and ways of working.
Develop and maintain a data-driven culture and foster a data literate organisation at all levels of RMIT Vietnam
Coordinate effective triage, communication and collaboration between RMIT Vietnam and RMIT Australia’s Data & Analytics function, ensuring consistent definitions, standards and effective delivery across geographies.
Ensure Vietnam requirements are represented in enterprise data products and platforms.
Engage with diverse audiences to collect, qualify, prioritise and shape innovative data analysis approaches and projects that will provide timely and actionable insights for execution
Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective data governance and compliance and partner with stakeholders to resolve issues as they arise.
Ensure alignment with strategies and policies set across RMIT while leading the governance of RMIT Vietnam’s information management capability
Prioritise and oversee the stabilisation and automation of high‑risk manual data and reporting processes.
Serve as the Data Protection Officer and act as the accountable authority for Vietnam’s data‑related risks and mitigation, including regulatory, statutory, and reputational risks.
Strong understanding of emerging tools in AI, data governance and analytics.
Demonstrated leadership in establishing data governance frameworks and operating models in complex, regulated environments.
Proven ability to lead distributed data teams or communities of practice.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with a track record of effective negotiation and persuasion at executive level.
Ability to effectively coordinate and prioritize data and analytics projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery.
Leadership in guiding the strategy, direction, and governance of information management capability, along with a proactive approach to taking ownership of information management policies and procedures.
Significant expertise in building trust and fostering collaboration in a data and analytics context across an organisation including executive negotiation skills.
Proven ability to design and deliver high impact reporting across varied stakeholders – from analytical trend reporting to polished Senior Management and Board reports as well as professional, high-impact KPI and Dashboard reporting.
Familiarity with monitoring and managing data quality across key data domains, along with the skill to proactively partner with key stakeholders to resolve data-related issues
Other preferences
Experience in data, analytics and data governance within a higher education institution.
Qualifications: Relevant postgraduate qualifications coupled with extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and proven expertise in project management.
