AstraZeneca

Senior Manager Corporate Affairs Communications & Campaigns

Spain - Barcelona Full time

As Senior Manager, Corporate Communications & Campaigns, you will lead the editorial direction, narrative development and multimedia storytelling that power AstraZeneca’s corporate campaigns and corporate brand

You will be an exceptional writer, editor and storycrafter with a strong instinct for what makes a compelling narrative. You will identify story opportunities, shape them with clarity and creativity and develop highquality written, visual and multimedia content that strengthens our corporate brand and reputation globally.

You will own and steward AstraZeneca’s corporate voice and narrative, ensuring consistency, clarity and strategic alignment across all corporate communications. This includes responsibility for key corporate materials such as the quarterly Speaker Kit and other narrative, messaging and editorial assets used across the enterprise. You will champion adherence to AstraZeneca’s tone of voice, raising editorial standards across GCA.

You will also embed AIenabled tools into our editorial and content workflows, ensuring they support productivity and creativity while maintaining the integrity of AstraZeneca’s corporate narrative, tone of voice and accuracy standards.

In addition to your editorial responsibilities, you will support our work across reputation risk, issues and crisis communications, applying strong judgement, media understanding and an ability to shape clear, accurate and responsive materials under pressure.

This role relies on strong collaboration and relationship building across global, regional and market teams, working within a highly matrixed environment and ensuring storytelling is aligned, actionable and impactful across audiences and geographies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use insights, research and analytics to refine storytelling approaches and improve content relevance and impact.

  • Work with digital communications colleagues to ensure storytelling is optimised for platform behaviour, audience needs and content performance trends.

  • Maintain strong awareness of emerging editorial, multimedia and storytelling formats and bring innovative approaches into AstraZeneca’s corporate communications.

Ownership of corporate narrative, voice and core communications materials

  • Own and continuously evolve AstraZeneca’s corporate narrative, key messages and tone of voice.

Reputation risk, issues & crisis communications

  • Support the delivery and coordination of elements of the reputation risk, issues and crisis communications programme, helping maintain readiness and consistent ways of working.

  • Contribute to issues and crisis materials (holding statements, reactive lines, Q&As, scenario content) with speed, precision and calm judgement.

  • Bring strong external awareness and media understanding to anticipate how narratives may develop and how communications will land with stakeholders.

  • Partner with relevant colleagues to ensure clear escalation routes, aligned messaging and effective crossfunctional coordination when reputational risk increases.

Partnership across regions and markets: collaboration and relationship building

  • Build trusted relationships with regional and market communicators, working as a collaborative partner who enables delivery and shares best practice.

  • Partner with global, regional and market teams to support highquality, creative and accurate communications outputs, ensuring global alignment while enabling appropriate local nuance.

  • Influence without authority in a matrixed environment, aligning stakeholders, navigating tradeoffs and keeping work moving at pace.

  • Foster a positive team culture through proactive communication, reliability and a “one enterprise” mindset.

AIenabled, digital and insightdriven ways of working

  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate first drafts, generate options and ideas, refine messaging, synthesise inputs and improve speed and quality of delivery, while applying strong editorial judgement and accountability for final outputs.

  • Use AI to support risk spotting (e.g., summarising signals, scanning patterns, stresstesting messaging) and to improve decisionmaking on where to focus time for highest impact.

  • Use digital measurement and analytics to track performance and optimise content and channel choices; turn insights into clear actions.

  • Manage and continuously improve use of communications technologies and tools that support campaign delivery and team efficiency.

  • Ability to identify, hone and articulate compelling stories that resonate across markets and channels.

  • Strong multimedia storytelling capability, with a good eye for format, structure and channel suitability.

  • Clear, confident communication and influencing skills; able to collaborate effectively across teams and geographies.

  • Sound judgement, especially when shaping materials in sensitive or high-pressure contexts.

  • AI and digital fluency: ability to use AI tools to enhance story development, drafting and insight generation responsibly.

  • Strategic, proactive and curious; brings external thinking and innovation into storytelling approaches.

  • High integrity and discretion; handles confidential information appropriately.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic and matrixed environment; able to manage multiple priorities and complex projects with high quality and reliability.
