RBC

Senior Manager, Compensation

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada Full time

Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

As a Senior Manager, Compensation supporting the Wealth Management platform, you’ll blend analytical prowess with strategic thinking to design, develop, implement and communicate cutting-edge compensation solutions (salary, short term incentive and equity programs) that drive RBC’s success. From providing executives and senior management with expert advice on all aspects of compensation programs, policies, initiatives and integrated HR solutions to crafting predictive compensation models, your work will directly impact our ability to attract, engage, and retain top talent.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Wealth Management Compensation, you’ll collaborate with a forward-thinking team of HR professionals who are passionate about creating exceptional employee experiences. You will be empowered to showcase your expertise, drive employee performance and engagement and partner with key business areas to make an impact. This isn’t just a role—it’s a chance to redefine what’s possible in total rewards!

What will you do?

Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to make a difference:

  • Shape Strategy: Partner with HR and business leaders to design and implement compensation programs that align with RBC’s ambitious goals, regulatory requirements and compensation principles.

  • Drive Insights: Dive into historical data to uncover trends, solve complex pay equity challenges, and fuel scenario planning for future-ready solutions.

  • Advance Solutions: Lead salary, incentive, direct drive and commission programs that incentivize desired behaviours (e.g. client-centric, risk awareness) while ensuring compliance.

  • Innovate with Data: Manage cost-effective market research, turning raw data into actionable insights and strategies that keep RBC ahead of trends and competitive.

  • Empower Others: Become the go-to Subject Matter Expert by demonstrating the ability to build strong relationships with HR partners and business leaders in order to influence decision-making and align compensation with strategic priorities.

  • Simplify Complexity: Create clear, engaging communications that help employees understand their compensation —because transparency builds trust.

  • Optimize Everything: Champion process improvements through automation and tech-driven solutions, making our team faster, smarter, and more efficient.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Haves:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in compensation design and governance, ideally within the financial services industry.

  • Excel and PowerPoint mastery—you’re an analytical wizard who turns data into stories.

  • Passion for technology and innovation—you love exploring tools that drive efficiency and have advanced skills in Microsoft suite for use in the design and management of sophisticated compensation programs.

  • Confident, articulate, and professional communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly, effectively and succinctly in various presentation formats.

  • A knack for juggling high-stakes projects while keeping an eye on the details.

  • Thrives working in a collaborative team environment.

 Nice-to-Haves:

  • Financial background experience would be a strong asset.

  • Experience with web-based compensation tools (e.g., Pay Factors, WorkDay) or market analytics.

  • A background in large corporate environments where complexity meets opportunity.

  • Experience with internal consulting, including interacting with senior executives.
