The Opportunity

"As Senior Communications and Media Relations Manager at FICO, you will spearhead communications for our FICO Scores business with a focus on lenders—including mortgage lenders, fintechs, credit unions, banks, and other financial institutions. This role is ideal for a strategic communicator who thrives at the intersection of financial services and media, and can translate complex, regulated topics into clear, credible narratives for business and trade outlets. You will lead communications and aid in developing the strategy and execution for reaching key audiences in mortgage, serve as a primary media‑relations lead, and drive proactive storytelling across industry trends, data insights, executive thought leadership, and major corporate milestones." - Corporate Communications - Director.

 

What You'll Contribute 

  • Lead the development and execution of communications and media outreach strategies that build awareness, understanding, and confidence in FICO Scores through lender trade media, including mortgage lenders, fintechs, banks, and credit unions. 

  • Serve as a primary media contact for business, financial services, fintech, and mortgage industry reporters, proactively pitching stories and managing inbound media inquiries. 

  • Develop and oversee high-quality communications materials, including press releases, media pitches, Q&As, talking points, executive briefings, etc. 

  • Partner closely with product, analytics, legal, marketing/product marketing, sales, and client success teams to translate business priorities into media-relevant narratives and earned coverage. 

  • Prepare and support spokespeople for interviews, briefings, and media engagements, ensuring clarity, confidence, and message consistency.  

  • Monitor media coverage, consumer sentiment, and industry trends to identify proactive storytelling opportunities and flag emerging issues or risks.  

  • Track and report on earned media performance, distilling results into clear takeaways that inform ongoing media strategy.  

What We're Seeking

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. 

  • 7–10+ years of experience in communications, media relations, or public relations, with a strong emphasis on financial services, fintech, mortgage, banking, or other regulated-industry experience. 

  • Proven ability to simplify complex topics and craft clear, compelling messages for consumer and mainstream media audiences.  

  • Strong track record of developing press materials and managing media relationships across consumer, financial, and business outlets.  

  • Experience leading communications initiatives and owning projects from strategy through execution.  

  • Highly collaborative, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and navigate legal or regulatory considerations.  

  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  

  • Experience using PR tools such as Muck Rack for media monitoring, outreach, and reporting.  

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and confident taking ownership while continuously looking for ways to improve and innovate.

  • The targeted base pay range for this role is: $94,500 to $148,500 with this range reflecting differences in candidate knowledge, skills and experience.
