The Trial Budget Oversight (TBO) Team is responsible for supporting the financial planning, development, and oversight of clinical trial budgets. Working closely with Development Operations Program Leads (DOPLs), Global Trial Leads (GTLs), and cross-functional stakeholders, this role ensures consistency, transparency, and accuracy in trial budgeting. Team members may lead or support trial-level budget activities, contribute to process and system enhancements, and serve as key contributors to Genmab's financial stewardship in clinical development. The TBO Team sits within Trial Strategy & Delivery (TSD), the Clinical trial Operations organization at Genmab.
 

Responsibilities/tasks:

Clinical Trial Budget Development & Oversight

  • Support development, alignment, and maintenance of clinical trial budgets across studies.
  • Participate in scenario planning and modeling for proposed trial designs.
  • Review budget inputs and identify risks, discrepancies, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Ensure alignment of trial budgets with program strategies and financial plans.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with DOPLs, GTLs, and Finance to review trial budgets and support financial reporting.
  • Facilitate monthly accruals and variance analysis meetings.
  • Train stakeholders on budget processes, tools, and standards.
  • Serve as a key resource for budget-related inquiries and issue resolution.

Tool & Process Improvement

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of budgeting tools and ERP systems.
  • Support rollout of process enhancements, templates, and budget governance.
  • Ensure adherence to internal standards for budget planning and tracking.

Vendor & Contract Oversight Support

  • Monitor vendor budgets and change orders to assess trial budget impact, support accurate forecasting, and enable timely budget reprojections.
  • Collaborate with Development Sourcing, Vendor Management, and Finance to align trial budgets with contractual terms and forecasting expectations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Development Operations purchase orders (POs), liaising with Global Procurement to ensure alignment with trial budget oversight and financial processes.

Requirements/Preferences

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, science, or a related discipline; master’s degree in a relevant field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or healthcare sector, ideally within a clinical R&D environment.
  • Practical experience in budget management, forecasting, and planning, within the life sciences industry and ideally in clinical development.
  • Strong analytical skills, with demonstrated experience translating data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with SAP, Power BI, and Clinical Trial Management Systems (e.g., Veeva Vault) is preferred.
  • A strong interest in working with new systems and developing predictive analyses and projections.
  • Basic understanding of Python, or any other programming languages is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and alignment across diverse teams.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt quickly to new situations in a dynamic, evolving environment.
