Position Details
Rakuten Group’s Risk Management function plays a critical role in comprehensively identifying and analyzing risks inherent in its diverse business domains, thereby supporting the Group’s sustainable growth and strengthening its overall resilience.
In this position, you will work across both the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Incident Management domains, gaining expertise in leading the design and operation of risk management frameworks required for a global company.
Key Responsibilities
1. Policy and Rule Development (ERM/Incident Management)
- Develop, revise, and maintain rules and regulations related to integrated risk management and incident management
- Coordinate with relevant internal departments, conduct reviews, and design operational processes
2. Risk Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Conduct analysis and evaluation related to the selection of Rakuten Group’s top risks
- Perform regular monitoring of risks and incidents across business units and group companies
- Track progress and evaluate the effectiveness of risk mitigation action plans
3. Executive Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare materials and reports for the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and risk-related committees
- Develop decision-support materials, including analysis and recommendations based on incident management status
4. Internal Stakeholder Collaboration and Coordination
- Coordinate with risk-related departments, business units, and group companies
- Respond to internal inquiries related to risks and incidents
- Support the preparation of risk management sections for the Integrated Report and Annual Securities Report
5. Training and Awareness Activities
- Plan and deliver risk management training and awareness programs for new hires, managers, business units, and group companies
- Promote a risk management culture aimed at preventing incidents before they occur
6. External Information Utilization and Professional Development
- Participate in risk management conferences, study groups, and seminars
- Collect and analyze information on global risk trends and best practices from other companies
7. Process Improvement (Use of AI / RPA)
- Improve efficiency of risk management and incident management processes through the use of AI and RPA

Age range: Primarily in their 30s to 40s
Team composition: Comprised mainly of mid-career hires
Background of Mid-Career Hires
After joining Rakuten from the non-life insurance industry, where they primarily worked in risk management, they have been responsible in the Risk Management Section for a wide range of activities, from risk analysis of business units to planning and providing risk management support.

After gaining several years of hands-on experience in the Risk Management Department, some employees have transferred to IT-related risk functions within the same corporate headquarters organization.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Work Experience
Risk management experience in companies, consulting firms, government agencies, financial institutions, manufacturers, or similar organizations
- Problem-Solving Skills
Strong analytical and logical skills; ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions
- Communication Skills
Ability to explain and coordinate with diverse stakeholders, including management
Communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across departments and convey risk information clearly
- PC Skills
Basic business PC skills, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- English Proficiency
Ability to read English documents and communicate via email
Desired Qualifications:
- Project Management: Experience in driving projects, including framework development, management, and communication with internal and external stakeholders
- English Proficiency: Business-level English skills, with experience negotiating and coordinating with overseas group companies and business partners
