Job Summary

The Business & Operations Manager (VP) provides business and operational leadership for the Brand & Marketing function, ensuring seamless execution of business processes, commercial strategies, and operational governance. This role acts as a key partner to executive leadership, translating strategic priorities into actionable operational plans that drive efficiency, scalability, and profitability. The position oversees financial performance, risk management, and technology enablement while fostering a high-performance culture and embedding continuous improvement practices across the marketing ecosystem.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Operational Leadership

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with Brand & Marketing priorities and organisational objectives.

  • Translate strategic plans into executable workflows that enhance productivity and scalability.

Commercial Strategy & Business Performance

  • Design and implement commercial strategies to support revenue growth and market expansion.

  • Monitor and report on KPIs, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to improve profitability.

Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.

  • Embed operational excellence frameworks and drive adoption of best practices.

Financial Oversight & Resource Management

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance for Brand & Marketing operations.

  • Ensure optimal resource allocation and cost efficiency across campaigns and projects.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Conduct market assessments and competitor benchmarking to inform strategic decisions.

  • Integrate insights into operational and commercial planning.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, legal, and internal policy standards.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate operational risks through robust governance frameworks.

Technology & Systems Management

  • Oversee implementation and optimisation of operational systems and tools.

  • Drive digital enablement to support data-driven decision-making and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop teams to create a high-performance culture.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Diploma, or B Tech [NQF 7]

  • Field of Study (Preferred):

    • Marketing

    • Business Operations

    • Strategic Management

Work Experience:

  • 5 - 12 years experience in a specific capability of importance to the bank, including a track record of 3 years in a people management position.

  • Exposure to process design, optimisation, quality management, customer centricity, technology and data-driven decision-making is preferred.

  • Proven success in leading operational strategies and managing cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, risk management, and compliance.

  • Strong background in process improvement and change management.

  • Familiarity with digital tools and operational systems for workflow optimisation.
