Location/Region:

This position is a remote role located in California (Bay Area preferred), Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois (Chicago Area preferred), Washington (Seattle area preferred), or Colorado (Denver area preferred).

What’s the role?

The Senior Manager in Business Development plays a pivotal role in steering the organization towards growth by identifying opportunities, fostering relationships, and ensuring that the business strategies are effectively executed. The position not only contributes to immediate revenue but also lays the groundwork for sustainable long-term success.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Identify and pursue business opportunities in a new field of business.
  • Assess leads for their commercial and strategic potential.
  • Develop and implement strategic partnerships with key industry players.
  • Collaborate with product management and technology teams at ZEISS to align business strategies with product offerings.
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations to board-level stakeholders and potential clients.
  • Support negotiation of contracts and deals.
  • Develop the organization by identifying opportunities for developing talents and skills necessary for the success of the AR/VR field of business
  • Create network with key internal partners to gain efficiency and strong commitment to deliver
  • Collaborates to the overall AR/VR commercial strategy

Do you qualify?

Education / Professional Certification:

  • Master’s degree in business management, engineering, or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in business development, key account management, global product management or cross-functional project leadership in a complex and international environment.
  • Proven success in managing complex projects and contract negotiations.
  • Experience in high-tech, ophthalmic, or innovative industries (e.g., optics, electronics, or advanced manufacturing).

Knowledge / Skills / Other characteristics:

  • Strategic negotiation skills.
  • Strategic market & business acumen.
  • Commercial account management.
  • Relationship/networking skills.
  • Strong financial analysis and P&L management.
  • Cross-functional project management and stakeholder coordination.
  • Good VIS core product knowledge.

  • Work in an international environment with demanding customers.
  • Operate in a challenging and innovative business segment.
  • Business fluent in English and German.

Working conditions & Other Attributes:

  • Flexibility for regular international travel and cross-regional collaboration.

The annual pay range for this position is as follows:

Bay Area: $149,800 to $187,200

National: $128,900 to 161,100

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus
