About the Role

It is the mission of Group Internal Audit (GIA) at AIA to provide independent, objective assurance and advisory activity, designed to add value and support the achievement of the AIA Group’s objectives and strategies.

This role will support the Regional Director or Director of Internal Audit in designing, implementing and maintaining:

• the required professional practice for the department, including methodology, quality assurance programme, functional improvement programme, audit planning, and operations;
• the processes for Group and BU-level Board and Management committee reporting of GIA results and analysis,
• an annual programme of training and development for GIA team members, and
• people initiatives within and involving GIA.

The role is required to drive innovation and efficiency in line with broader AIA and GIA strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Director of Internal Audit in the maintenance of world-class audit professional practice, including methodology and operations.
  • Support the design and implementation of a programme of training and leadership events to support the function across all BUs (including Senior Leadership Team events, conferences, technical and soft-skill training).
  • Prepare management reports, Audit Committee papers and other GIA presentation materials, including analysis of root causes, themes and trends emerging from GIA work.
  • Manage a programme of internal and external Quality Assurance Reviews of internal audit work and practice.
  • Support continuous functional improvements in the aspects of people, processes and positioning of GIA, enhancing GIA’s value to the organisation. This includes collaborating with the GIA Audit Analytics and Transformation team in the design, build and implementation of audit tools and systems and the associated change management.
  • Design, implement and oversee the annual risk-based audit planning process, audit report issuance process and monitoring of audit plan and audit issue status
  • Monitor and maintain the audit system and database.
  • Support the design and implementation of people initiatives within and involving GIA and facilitate cross-BU knowledge sharing.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s / master’s degree in accounting or business studies.
  • CPA, CIA or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years’ working experience in insurance, financial or a related industry with large multinational organisations. Audit/risk, project management, functional operations experience essential. Big 4 work experience preferred.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to analyse and present complex data.
  • Ability to critically challenge documentation quality and provide advice on areas of improvement on audit systems and processes.
  • Solid knowledge in data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Good understanding of life insurance operations, corporate governance, industry practices and legislative/regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of working in Asian life insurance industry preferred.
  • Supervisory working experience is essential.
  • Excellent communicator. Proficiency in verbal and written English is a must. Ability to communicate in Chinese is an advantage.
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills.
