The Role

This role will drive, collaborate, and advise on the end-to-end category, contracting & sourcing process for R&D services with external service providers/vendors e.g., Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and ancillary service providers to support the Clinical development pipeline such as but not limited to other relevant sourced trial management services (e.g., patient recruitment, decentralized clinical trials, etc.). The role will build contracting & sourcing trial strategies and create leading practices which improve values, minimize risk & cost, ensure quality, and create scalability in a dynamic and growing business demand setting.

Depending on the candidate’s experience, the role may be hired at a Senior Manager or Associate Director level.

Responsibilities/tasks

The key accountability of this role is to lead the end-to-end contracting & sourcing process, in close collaboration with departments in R&D to facilitate timely, fit for purpose contracts, by:

  • driving the request for sourcing process.
  • driving the vendor evaluation incl. vendor due diligence process for new vendors.
  • enabling the vendor selection.
  • driving the contract process (initiation, negotiation, execution, and scope changes) for master service agreements as well as monetary agreements i.e., task orders/statement of works and change orders.
  • acting as coordinating contract manager for sourcing of clinical trials.
  • managing vendor governance including performance management i.e., chair the provider-Genmab Governance, drive contract issue escalation and resolution as well as risk mitigation and process optimization, identify improvement and trending activities for better collaboration with the provider.
  • managing category strategies within area of responsibilities.
  • advising line of business in in R&D on future best practice based upon risk, performance, relationship, and supplier development pillars.
  • contributing to the development, implementation, and maintenance of outsourcing strategies within the assigned service categories.

In addition, this role will play an important part in the further development of the global sourcing, contract management and vendor governance processes together with the entire R&D Outsourcing team and stakeholders in R&D, Legal, DD&AI, Finance, Compliance & Risk and QA

The Employee shall also render other related services and duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

Competencies                 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 7+ years of industry related experience.

  • Proven experience in clinical outsourcing management.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.

Skills

  • Ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced environment and with tight timelines.

  • Ability to be proactive, enthusiastic and goal orientated.

  • Excellent coordination and project management abilities.

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • A team player with demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Scientists, Trial Managers, Data Managers, Clinicians, vendors) to support the overall R&D strategy.
