Senior Manager, Analytics & Strategic Reporting

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering analytic and dashboard solutions in a hybrid role including team leadership and as an individual contributor.  This role demands a high level of collaboration across teams which also includes working in an agile squad framework.  You are experienced in analytics and dashboard development and able to manage complex reporting projects independently while raising up those around you to do the same.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate: cross-functionally with other data experts (e.g. data engineers) and business partners (e.g. Finance, Sales, Product, Claims) to drive the highest value work at pace while managing multiple priorities, ad-hoc requests, and projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Re-imagine dashboard products: evolve modern dashboards that do more than show numbers - they reveal trends, highlight opportunities and spark better conversations that drive the business forward.  Help re-imagine and re-build our analytics and reporting offering while reducing our technical debt.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and support a small team of analytic and report developers.  Be responsible for driving employee satisfaction, capability development and engagement including all typical managerial functions (e.g. goal setting, performance management, coaching, etc.)
  • Individual contributor: Lead and/or contribute to project initiatives, provide analysis and reporting solutions to end users while contributing as an agile squad member.  Contribute to semantic model design and development.  Communicate to and influence stakeholders through storytelling

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in business, financial, or operational analytics with increasing scope and responsibility and 3+ years with proven people management success
  • Expertise in Tableau or related tools
  • Strength in implementing each phase of the reporting development life cycle, business analytics, data exploration, performance frameworks, semantic model design/development (i.e. standardizing metric layer, semantic layer tooling/technology) and innovative problem-solving
  • Strong communication, synthesis, and storytelling skills - translate complexity into clarity
  • Experience in semantic model design and development (i.e. standardizing metric layer, semantic layer tooling & technology)
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud technology and data engineering knowledge
  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in a relevant field

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience working in an agile squad framework
  • Financial background and knowledge of IFRS17 data
  • Experience working in a large, highly matrixed organization
  • Insurance knowledge (general knowledge, products, distribution channels)​
