GENERAL PURPOSE

  • Provide fundamental engineering leadership and expertise within machine maintenance. 
  • Able to apply and coach engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques to support business objectives.
  • While working to manage and set strategic objectives for Machine Maintenance Teams at assigned site(s), to achieve operational objectives in safety, quality, reliability, cost, continuous improvement, and employee morale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coaches and mentors maintenance engineering tasks and skills to others.
  • Ability to take good notes; showing work and assumptions.
  • Ability to use originality and ingenuity to apply solutions.
  • Applies advanced engineering skills to work assignments.
  • Lead, define, and complete complex problem-solving tasks with minimal oversight of leadership.
  • Apply advanced problem-solving skills with an understanding of MKPS and its principles
  • Applies and teaches problem tools (8-Step, PDCA, Water-Fall Charting, 5 Why, Critical Eye, etc.)
  • Applies advanced supply chain cost, value stream capabilities and economic principles.
  • Ability to develop, write, justify, and submit capital and expense requests
  • Completes engineering tasks with no supervision. Able to guide and assist other team members.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining the technical objectives of an assignment.
  • Identifies opportunities and owns proactive improvements to machines, maintenance, and parts.
  • Leads, defines and completes complex engineering tasks with minimal oversight of leadership.
  • Follows all machine safety practices, guidelines, principles, with an emphasis on improved and enhanced machine safety.
  • Follows engineering and quality processes.
  • Conducts feasibility studies, determine manpower, cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria for machine maintenance sites.
  • Seeks and receives mentoring from maintenance leadership.
  • Seeks approval of budget using appropriate request process.
  • Makes sound judgments using basic ingenuity and technical knowledge.
  • Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal Regulations regarding machine maintenance principles and programs.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or associate degree with 10+ years of related maintenance experience in a Manufacturing Environment

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience in programming/developing/configuring HMI and SCADA systems, preferably Ignition.
  • Experience working with MES Software packages.
  • Experience and knowledge in Python, C#, HTML, JSON, RESTful Web APIs, and SQL.

  • Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Exposure to project management concepts may be essential for some assignments
  • Advanced knowledge in Lean principles, and application (MKPS)

  • Must be able to assess process concepts and to determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with people at various levels including production, engineering, and management and to be able to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
  • Knowledge in the use of common office automation, communication, software and tools, MillerKnoll mainframe applications and engineering related software.
  • Must be an effective team leader, able to set team goals and commitments, and hold team members accountable for their assigned tasks.
  • At the direction of supervision must be able to effectively react to changing priorities and work flow and be able to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes which affect project plans.
  • Must have an overall business sense and understand how decisions impact business results.
  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
