Senior Logistics Officer

OCONUS-Australia-Alice Springs Full time

The Senior Logistics Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all logistics activities related to the movement storage and lifecycle management of furniture and related assets. This includes leading inventory control processes, conducting regular stock-taking and ensuring accurate record keeping to support organizational planning and operation efficiency. In addition, the Senior logistics officer supervises the custodial cleaning team to ensure that all accommodation facilities are maintained to required cleanliness, safety and functional standards. The role supports organizational objectives by ensuring that furniture assets are effectively managed and facilities remain clean, safe and operational ready.

This role encompasses end to end management of furniture logistics including asset tracking, stock taking, warehouse organization, inventory reconciliation and coordination of furniture deliveries, installations, relocations and disposals. The senior logistics officer maintains inventory databases, collaborates on furniture and related supplies and ensures compliance sight asset management policies. The scope also includes oversight of custodial cleaning operations - performance monitoring and quality control. This position works closely with internal departments.  Responsibilities further include reporting on inventory and custodial performance, assisting furniture deliveries, operating furniture truck, identifying risks and driving continuous improvement across both logistics and cleaning teams.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise, coach and evaluate logistics and custodial staff
  • Assign and monitor work task and schedules
  • Promote a collaborative and high-performance team culture
  • Manage performance issues and support profession development
  • Schedule furniture/appliance pick-ups and deliveries, and other transport related tasks to support HLS activities.
  • Maintain procedures for inventory control within the housing and leasing services warehouses, and directly manage these functions in a hands-on manner
  • Coordinate and monitor Inventory Adjustment vouchers for the disposal of HLS goods
  • In conjunction with the logistics supervisor, coordinate stocktaking activities within the HLS warehouses.
  • Maintain records of equipment records, asset condition status and serial numbers in SAP to ensure accurate records in warehouses and functional locations
  • Maintain health and safety within the workplace by promoting safety awareness initiatives, discussions and trainings, encouraging a safety focused culture and participating and reviewing risk assessments for those under their supervision.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Essential

  • Vocational training and qualifications in Transport and Logistics fields.
  • Equivalent demonstrated experience

Desirable

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Transport and Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Working knowledge of SAP

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – Minimum Essential

Minimum Essential

  • 3-5 Years’ experience in Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain Operations
  • 1-3 years managing Logistics teams, delegating tasks, performance management and training staff
  • Experience with MS Office operating system
  • Inventory & warehouse management
  • Ability to work professionally with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to meet deadlines and successfully complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to identify and analyse issues and develop solutions to problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with varied stakeholders

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
  • The ability to lift items up to 10kgs independently
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Negative Vetting (NV1) Department of Defence Security Clearance (Australian) or Secret (U.S.) clearance.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned shall be:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Hold a current driver's license
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

EHS REQUIREMENT
