Senior Lighting Artist

Housemarque is looking for a talented Lead Lighting Artist to join our team!

THE JOB

As a Senior Lighting Artist, you will contribute high-quality real-time lighting while growing into a Lighting Lead role within the team. You will work closely with the Art Director and Technical Art Director, supporting lighting direction and taking increasing ownership over quality, workflows, and team support.

This is an opportunity for an experienced lighting artist who is ready to step into leadership responsibilities, with support and mentorship to grow into a full Lead role.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Create high-quality lighting for environments and gameplay scenarios.
• Collaborate with the Art Director and Technical Art Director to achieve the visual vision.
• Support the development and maintenance of lighting workflows and best practices.
• Take ownership of lighting for key areas or features.
• Participate in lighting reviews and provide feedback to peers.
• Support and mentor more junior team members where needed.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure lighting supports gameplay and performance.
• Assist in troubleshooting lighting and rendering issues.
• Contribute to maintaining consistency in lighting quality across the project.
• Gradually take on more responsibility in planning and decision-making.

 

What will help you to be successful in this role?

• Shipped at least one PC/Console title as a Lighting Artist.
• 5+ years of experience in AAA game development.
• Strong understanding of real-time lighting and PBR workflows.
• Demonstrated interest in mentorship or leadership.
• Good problem-solving skills in both artistic and technical contexts.
• Ability to work within established pipelines and workflows.
• Strong artistic eye for lighting, color, and composition.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Perforce.
• Experience with project management tools like Jira.
• Fluent written and verbal English skills.
• A genuine passion for video games.

 

Bonus skills

• Experience with Unreal Engine or a proprietary AAA engine.
• Exposure to shader or scripting workflows.
• Background in photography or cinematography.

 

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Helsinki, Finland.
