Title: Senior Legal Counsel
Location: Paris, France
Position summary
The Legal Counsel supports all NCR business units and functions. S/he provides support for business initiatives and advises the business on legal and regulatory matters in relation to the provision of NCR products and services. Responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating contracts; building a trusted advisor relationship with the business teams; and identifying preventative measures to avoid legal risks, conflicts and issues relevant to the businesses supported. You will support France and Belgium (at times) and be part of a large integrated worldwide in-house legal team.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Act as legal advisor to management, sales and business clients
- Negotiate, draft and review complex RfIs, RfPs, IT sales, services, licensing, subscription, SaaS, outsourcing and related agreements
- Provide proactive, practical and business-oriented legal advice
- Co-ordinate and advise in disputes and litigation matters (employment and commercial)
- Advise in other areas such as employment matters, company law, competition law, regulatory compliance including data protection and process improvement
- Participate in the company’s law department activities including development of best practices, special projects and developing and maintaining templates that comply with company policies and local laws
- Analyze and interpret law, rulings and regulations that affect company and recommend changes accordingly
- Provide internal training on relevant legal issues to clients
- Liaise with outside legal counsel
Requirements:
- Fully qualified lawyer.
- Preferred that candidate has at least 3 -5 years’ experience in a major law firm and / or in-house at a multinational company, with focus on commercial contracts.
- Experience in complex IT services contracts (IP / IT expertise valued) as well as in IT technology / consulting.
- Preferably experience in working in a US business environment.
- Strong organizational talent who enjoys working in a global distributed team. Ability to understand and help develop business strategy and adaptability in a changing environment. Ability to prioritize effectively, and optimize working methods to be efficient, practical and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Results-oriented thinker with self-initiative and able to interlink both legal and business perspective; Good analysis skills and judgment to make useful legal recommendation during escalation process with business management.
- Proactivity, flexibility and willingness to work on a broad variety of matters in a busy environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in French and English, including a clear and concise drafting style
- Occasional travel is required.
