Position Overview / Primary Responsibilities and Duties

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel that is skilled in providing independent, timely pragmatic legal advice aligned with commercial considerations, contributing to our mission of being a trusted advisor to the business.

Must have strong infrastructure experience, and experience advising on joint ventures and alliances.  

Prior in-house experience and experience in renewable energy, intellectual property queries including strategic legal advice on the exploitation and protection of intellectual property, data protection, and general commercial matters such as lease agreements, software agreements and licences is a plus

Key responsibilities include:

  • reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements including supply terms, framework agreements, memorandums of understanding, joint venture agreements and subcontracts

  • dispute resolution including working with the Vice-President Legal to manage litigation including budgeting and managing legal costs and early resolution of these matters.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Trusted advisor and business partner to both the operational business and the Vice-President Legal

  • Key member of APAC legal team and must be able to work collaboratively with other members of Legal Team and wider KBR Legal Team of Teams on operational matters.

  • Partner with the Vice-President Legal on identifying strategies to increase efficiency of the legal team and services provided.

  • Reviewing tender opportunities, evaluating risk profiles, and coordinating a response to the business

  • Develop and execute proactive strategies to improve knowledge and awareness of the business units on key industry initiatives, and legislative changes.

Experience & Skills

  • A qualified solicitor with at least 8 years PQE either in private practice or in-house (ideally minimum 2 years inhouse experience)

  • Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.  Strong communicator with  employees of all levels.

  • Must be a team player capable of working independently with multiple issues in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining emphasis on overall corporate policies and goals

  • Strategic thinker and creative problem solver who is also able to balance risk in a commercial enterprise and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.

  • Strong management and leadership skills including talent development, workload management, process improvement, and execution.

  • Ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust throughout organization.

  • Ability to provide training and guidance to team members and the business on relevant legal developments

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel domestically as required.

  • Background Check Required

  • Must be willing to be present in the Office 3 days a week.
