Lendlease is currently searching for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel. This role will support the Chief Legal Officer, Investments, and the CEO of Lendlease Global Commercial REIT (LREIT), providing legal and compliance support for LREIT and the Investment Management business in Asia.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Render legal advice and support to the LREIT and investment management business (including real estate, retail and investment management) in transactions and operations around Asia.
- Support the LREIT Board and Board processes.
- Ensure compliance with regional procedures and policies.
- Manage & coordinate legal aspects and activities, and communicate organisational policies and legal updates to ensure operations comply with established organisational policies and legal requirements, rules, regulations and laws.
- Manage the analysis, review, research and evaluation of legal documents/tenders and requirements to provide solutions for legal problems and potential risks, and develop and implement alternative solutions.
- Manage the production, analysis, interpretation and update of legal and risk's policies, procedures and databases and manage the production, review and provision of legal documents and reports (e.g. contract, letter of agreements) to track legal issues, recommend corrective actions and maintain timely information in compliance with requirements of governmental agencies, laws, statutes, rules and regulations.
- Maintain internal and external relationships which may include contracted external consultants and may extend to representing the company at litigation and other proceedings and provide mentoring, coaching and support to team members and promote understanding of legal rights, obligations and privileges to ensure that team members are adequately resourced to perform.
- Support the initiatives undertaken by the legal team such as contribution to legal training materials; updating legal document templates.
Education/Experience:
A qualified lawyer from any commonwealth jurisdiction with post qualification experience of 8 years.
Experience in corporate, real estate, investment management with a major law firm or in–house.
- Experience in all aspects of investment management legal issues including funds management, capital raising, trust issues, management of external boards, property acquisition and disposal, entity acquisition and disposal, establishment of new vehicles, unitholder issues, conflicts of interest etc.
- Prior experience working with a REIT would be a strong plus.
- Possess good commercial acumen, and able to provide in depth analysis of legal issues which impacts the business in a clear and concise manner
- Agility in adapting to changes and ability to consider issues from perspectives other than legal
- Ability to work independently or as a team player and under pressure
- Ability to manage various stakeholders
- Possess excellent written and communication skills
