Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lean Practitioner to join the Air Dominance Lean team to support a proprietary program in St. Louis, MO.

As a Lean Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in driving Lean initiatives and culture across the organization. You will be responsible for Lean activities and partnering with stakeholders to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance. This position requires an understanding of Lean principles and methodologies, as well as the ability to guide teams and leaders in their Lean journey.

The successful candidate will be a Lean manufacturing expert to support Boeing Production System implementation, and maturity, working with BDS Program and manufacturing teams, along with other stakeholders throughout the enterprise, to drive the integration of Lean best practices to enable world-class manufacturing system performance and efficiency. This teammate will be responsible for embedding lean principles and tactics within the design, establishment and maturity of a production system for a development Program to enhance the “Start Right” culture and achieve business objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coach and Facilitate Lean activities and initiatives across various programs & functions
  • Teach and apply applicable lean tools (e.g. Problem solving, Kaizen workshops, 3p, Value Steam mapping, Process mapping, 5s) and process analysis to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop, deploy and execute integrated continuous improvement strategy and assist with its strategic deployment
  • Develop and implement Lean training programs for employees at all levels
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement efforts, facilitate cross-team best-practice sharing, and promote replication of successful process improvements across the organization.
  • Utilize data analysis and metrics to measure the effectiveness of Lean initiatives
  • Coach, Mentor and Educate stakeholders in Lean principles and practices
  • Prepare and present reports on progress and outcomes to management
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in Lean methodologies
  • Applies and integrates improvement processes and tools across the full value stream
  • Connect Lean principles and strategy to execution results
    • Production System design, facility layout and 5S in support of “Start Right” in new Buildings while also transitioning from existing facilities
    • Effective kitting strategies and visual controls for part placement and storage
    • Production Health metrics and visual controls identifying constraints, containment and support system escalation for RCCA and kaizen countermeasures
      • Example: Tier Board & Oobeya visuals with operational cadence
    • Long term continuous improvement through all life cycles of the Program (L+DBR’s / PFMEA through LRIP)

 Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10 + years of experience implementing lean principles
  • 10+ years of experience working in cross-functional teams
  • 8+ years of experience planning and facilitating Lean+ workshops (e.g., BPSM /AIW / 3P / Kaizen / VSM, Process Mapping, AIW, DK)
  • 6+ years of experience teaching Lean+ tools and concepts
  • Willing to Travel Domestically and internationally as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors Degree or higher
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • 10+ years of experience in Aerospace, Fabrication, or manufacturing environment 
  • 10+ years of Experience with the Boeing Production System
  • Project management certification
