DB Global Technology is Deutsche Bank’s technology centre in Central and Eastern Europe. Since its set-up in 2013, Bucharest Technology Centre (BEX) has constantly proven its capacity to deliver global technology products and services, playing a dynamic role in the Bank’s technology transformation.

We’re looking for a Senior Lead Engineer to design and build end-to-end product features across web front-end, back-end services, and data integrations. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable software.
Responsibilities
- Own full lifecycle delivery of features.
- Build and maintain frontend applications with modern frameworks (e.g., React/Angular/Vue)
- Design and implement backend APIs (REST/GraphQL) and supporting services
- Work with databases (Sybase/PostgreSQL/MySQL/MongoDB), data modeling, migrations, and performance tuning
- Improve system reliability and performance through observability, alerting, and incident response
- Write high-quality code with strong testing practices (unit/integration/e2e)
- Lead technical design discussions, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture and platform decisions
- Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines and deployment practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Ensure security best practices (authN/authZ, secrets handling, OWASP awareness)
Skills
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent)
- Strong experience building both frontend and backend production systems
- Proficiency in at least one backend stack: Node.js (TypeScript), Java/Kotlin (Spring), Python (Django/FastAPI), or C# (.NET)
- Experience designing APIs, integrating third-party services, and working with distributed systems
- Solid understanding of SQL, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerization (Docker; Kubernetes a plus)
- Comfortable with debugging complex issues and working with logs/metrics/traces
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Experience with microservices, event-driven systems (Kafka/SQS/PubSub), and caching (Redis)
- Security experience (OAuth2/OIDC, SSO, threat modeling)
- Prior ownership of high-traffic systems and performance optimization
