About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Credit Risk & Approval Officer to serve on the Independent Risk Management team providing credit risk oversight for the Healthcare and Sponsor-owned relationships within Commercial Banking Specialized Industries.
In this role, you will:
- Serve as a key member of the team providing oversight and management of credit risk for CB Specialized Industries, working to support the objectives and goals of CB while maintaining prudent credit underwriting standards and sound overall portfolio quality.
- Maintain appropriate credit quality and portfolio health by providing informed and thoughtful credit risk guidance, recommendations, and approvals, engaging in regular portfolio evaluation and deteriorating/problem credit review and by escalating matters when appropriate.
- Develop and maintain a solid understanding of bank credit policy, regulatory standards and guidance, and risk rating applicability; provide leadership and guidance on these matters to CB teams and partners.
- Develop and maintain appropriate industry and sector knowledge.
- Engage product and subject matter experts and other institutional resources as needed to make informed decisions and recommendations.
- Review pipeline activity regularly and assist in the management of deadline awareness and coverage team and client expectations.
- Be willing to join a reasonable level of direct client and prospect engagement.
- Provide thoughtful leadership and guidance to teams about necessary due diligence and analytical focus, particularly in merger and acquisition financing situations and on complex healthcare and sponsor deals.
- Advise more experienced leadership to provide support, oversight, and guidance in surveilling the portfolio for highly complex business and technical needs across groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex loan transactions and unique challenges
- Deliver solutions that require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Coordinate and establish criteria to safeguard and support credit risk based limits based on position, size, and margin requirements
- Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions that are large-scale, cross-functional, or companywide strategies
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers companywide
- Serve as an experienced advisor to leadership to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal and external customers
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Credit Risk & Approval experience includes credit underwriting and credit approval experience.
- Healthcare industry and/or financial sponsor lending experience.
- A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics.
- Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members.
- Strong credit analysis skills.
- Solid understanding of Wells Fargo's credit culture and approach to risk management.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience with complex organizational and capital structures.
- Solid understanding of capital markets.
- Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.
Salary is just one component of Wells Fargo's total rewards package. Depending on the role, a Wells Fargo's employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, such as sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
$215,000.00 - $355,000.00
