About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Lead Control Management Officer
In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to more experienced leaders in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines
- Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management
- Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations
- Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams
- Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- Risk Management Certification Programs.
- Comprehensive understanding of Strategy, Transformation, Governance, Risk and Control management in the financial services industry.
- Ability to effectively communicate, verbal and written, with various levels of management, including senior leaders and executives.
- Experience in assessing risk, reviewing risk ratings, and identifying control deficiencies.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills, especially with difficult topics when partnering with senior management. This includes the willingness and ability to question decisions, understand direction and escalate issues, where necessary.
- Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and deliver results quickly.
Job Expectations:
- Business Strategy & Enablement (Central) Control Management team provides support to the Business Group (BG) and Enterprise Functions (EF) Control teams for various Control Management activities aligned to the Control Strategy and priorities and provides a horizontal Control view across India & Philippines (I&P). In addition, the team provides Control coverage for I&P legal entities and administers Control Councils for I&P.
- This is a Senior Individual Contributor role at Executive Director Level that manages Control Strategy and supports Business Enablement & Governance. This role will entail engaging and working with control senior leadership across regions / Business Groups and Enterprise Functions to drive the changes. Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage the Strategic Priorities and initiatives for Control Organization in I&P
- Rationalize Control Organization structures, reporting, skillsets, resourcing
- Support implementation of Control Target operating Model - Seat at the Table, alignment with Enterprise, standardization across Business Group and Enterprise Functions
- Proactively lead the strategy to transition work into center of excellence/utilities, Control Programs
- Provide Thematic views and trends, Key Risk Indicators across Control Organization for proactive Governance. Analyze information and identify opportunities for providing value-added information to stakeholders, including enhancing the quality of information, graphical representations, etc.
- Undertake Control initiatives, identify, assess and mitigate change initiatives across the control organization.
- Prepare adhoc presentations / reports for Control Leadership by ensuring contents included in the report are relevant, precise and concise to understand and comprehend.
- Support Business Enablement – Maturity Assessments, Thematic views, Headcount planning & retention strategy, seating capacity
- Support Control Maturity Assessments, Community of Practice, Transitions, Governance forums, incident monitoring and escalations, Learning & Development,
- Interfaces and fosters strong relationships with team and collaborate effectively. Coordinates with Control teams, Business Groups / Enterprise Functions, Independent Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Regulators on risk and control related topics.
- Proficient knowledge of industry standards and best practices around control management and risk management framework.
- Dynamic individual contributor role with the opportunity to lead projects and mentor less experienced employees.
- Relevant experience in Banking / Financial Services industry and / or risk & control domains covering Strategy, operational risk, compliance, internal audit, risk management, Governance etc.
- Strong experience in Strategy, Transformation, Governance, Risk and Control fundamentals.
- Comprehensive understanding of risk types, methodologies and frameworks for evaluating or testing controls and assessing results, conducting research, and identifying control deficiencies.
- Experience evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls; additional experience analyzing business and/or systems changes to determine impact.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality output.
- Skilfully builds constructive and effective relationships. Delivers on commitments and renegotiates when needed. Strong sense of accountability.
- Ability to influence and consult strategically across a large organization and with various levels of leadership/stakeholders.
