We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team at Mercer a Marsh Business. This role will be based in New York or Chicago. This is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Senior Lead Consultant in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), you will act as the M&A Managing Consultant leading M&A Coordinators and other nominated line-of-business consultants to ensure the successful delivery of client solutions and projects. You will manage large-scale M&A projects throughout national markets, driving business development and client engagement.
We will count on you to:
- Drive growth through critical commercial activities, such as relationship identification, development and expansion, originating and expanding opportunities
- Identify clients’ needs and define project scope and deliverables to meet their business objectives
- Oversee the work of M&A consultants and coordinators, including people management responsibilities such as hiring, performance evaluations, career development, and compensation decisions.
- Lead client-facing business development activities to identify and document new business opportunities. Bring an expansion mindset to all opportunities.
- Manage large-scale, complex M&A projects covering multiple countries and markets and serve as a senior advisory to the clients and Mercer project teams.
- Deliver assigned M&A business initiatives and contribute to the development of new M&A intellectual capital and marketing materials.
- Prepare periodic reports and analyses to plan and manage the M&A consulting services business.
- Monitor personal and team compliance with M&A policies and procedures.
What you need to have:
- BA/BS degree.
- Extensive experience in managing complex M&A consulting projects and leading teams.
- Proven ability to engage with clients at senior levels and deliver impactful business solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in people management and development.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
- Core technology skills and appetite to learn new technologies and tech-driven solutions.

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $169,000 to $338,500.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
