The Senior Azure Cloud Architect / Engineer is responsible for designing, architecting, and delivering scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions primarily within Microsoft Azure, while also incorporating multi-cloud and AWS capabilities. This role requires deep technical expertise across cloud infrastructure, security, DevOps automation, containerization, and migration strategies. The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading cloud initiatives, mentoring engineering teams, and driving modernization efforts, including cloud-to-cloud migrations and re-architecting legacy systems into modern, multi-tier microservices solutions.
Architect and enhance end-to-end Azure cloud solutions across compute, storage, networking, identity, and security.
Define cloud governance, resource organization, cost optimization, and high-availability patterns.
Provide architectural oversight, participate in solution reviews, and guide technical decision-making.
Evaluate and recommend new Azure services and emerging technologies.
Design architectures spanning Azure and AWS environments, ensuring interoperability and optimal workload placement.
Support cross-cloud strategies including failover, workload distribution, and high-resiliency solutions.
Lead and execute hands-on implementation of Azure infrastructure and services.
Build and maintain IaC using Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates.
Develop CI/CD pipelines leveraging Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and other automation frameworks.
Troubleshoot, optimize, and automate cloud workloads to improve scalability and performance.
Implement AWS services (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch) to complement Azure ecosystems.
Support multi-cloud deployments and cross-cloud automation using Terraform and GitHub Actions.
Lead and mentor cloud engineering teams, supporting their career growth and daily direction.
Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges.
Collaborate with security, data, product, and application teams to ensure architectural alignment.
Conduct design reviews and provide coaching to engineers of all levels.
Promote cloud-agnostic design principles to support multi-cloud portability.
Implement Azure Policy, RBAC, and Defender for Cloud configurations.
Ensure compliance with corporate and industry security requirements.
Drive cost management strategies through proper resource planning and tagging.
Support incident response and operational troubleshooting.
Define governance and security best practices across Azure and AWS.
Enhance workload protection through strong identity, network, and security configurations.
10+ years of cloud engineering or architecture experience, primarily with Azure.
Expert knowledge of Azure IaaS, PaaS, and serverless services.
Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex topics for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven leadership experience guiding engineers in Agile or DevOps environments.
Experience designing and managing hybrid or multi-cloud architectures.
Knowledge of cloud governance, cost control, high availability, and security best practices.
Experience leading migrations from on-prem to Azure, cloud-to-cloud, and modernization of monolithic applications.
Experience migrating Oracle VM-hosted databases to Autonomous DB or other enhanced DB platforms.
Strong background deploying and managing Azure VM-based landing zones.
Strong understanding of end-to-end development lifecycle.
Familiarity with refactoring Apache front end and working with Apache Front Door.
Experience with monitoring solutions such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
