Senior Launch Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.

General Responsibilities
• Leads the implementation and maintenance of methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacturing or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
• Collaborates with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products
• Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines
• Leads records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
• Plans and designs manufacturing processes in an industrial plant
• Leads the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation in support of manufacturing operations such as machining, metal forming, plastics processing, welding and brazing, assembly, and material handling

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Job Description

  • Lead the full-process launch of new auto parts from R&D trial production to mass production, make launch plans to meet OEM delivery requirements.

  • Organize trial production, coordinate cross-departmental resources, solve technical, process and quality issues during trial and early mass production.

  • Implement and optimize production line documents, complete PPAP/APQP documents, ensure compliance with IATF16949 and OEM specifications.

  • Verify equipment and tooling applicability, track capacity ramp-up to ensure order delivery.

Requirements

  • University degree or above, major in Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, IE, etc. over 5 years auto parts NPI/Launch experience is preferred.

  • Familiar with IATF16949, master PPAP, APQP, 8D, able to read auto parts drawings and BOM.

  • Familiar with auto parts production equipment commissioning, strong coordination and problem-solving ability, acceptable for reasonable overtime.

  • Understand OEM supplier management requirements, experience in new energy auto parts launch or OEM supporting projects is preferred.
