About the role

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for SydPath laboratory services, ensuring high-quality, efficient and future-focused day-to-day operations.

  • Set and uphold the standard for safety, sustainability and compliance, meeting all legislative, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

  • Lead, develop and empower laboratory leaders and teams, building a high-performance culture focused on accountability, capability and continuous improvement.

  • Drive commercial and operational value through effective vendor partnerships, resource optimisation and cost-conscious management within budget.

  • Partner with executive and clinical stakeholders to deliver organisational KPIs, performance benchmarks and strategic priorities.

About you

  • Relevant scientific or management qualifications with proven experience leading high-performing lab teams.

  • Skilled at building trusted, lasting relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.

  • Strong problem-solver with sound judgment, able to tackle complex issues and drive results.

  • Highly organised communicator, driving team efficiency, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

  • Self-motivated multitasker, meeting deadlines, managing priorities, and delivering administrative responsibilities seamlessly.

In this role you will be based at St Vincent’s hospital, Darlinghurst.

  • Centres of excellence include heart & lung transplantation, bone marrow transplantation, cardiology, cancer care, AIDS/HIV, respiratory medicine, mental health, homeless health, drug & alcohol services, and correctional health
