Labor Engineering at Target Corporation
The Labor model is critical to building the Stores payroll plan and scheduling store labor to deliver the right Guest experience, Target’s sales goals and Target’s strategic objectives. The labor model also allows Target to achieve expense goals by measuring and driving efficiencies in Store processes. You will use the labor model to forecast future workload to prioritize, sequence and manage the capacity of Stores teams. The labor model also acts as the key input into a staffing model that determines the optimal staffing level for each store for the purpose of stabilizing team member’s hours, increasing team member’s average hours and in turn increasing the productivity of the Stores team.
As a Senior Labor Engineer in Store Operations, you will:
Be responsible for building and maintaining the Stores operational standards to ensure that Target is able to achieve various strategic outcomes
Support designing, testing and implementing optimal process solutions in stores by applying engineered standards to identify the most desirable outcome
Use and own engineered operational standards to forecast future workload, prioritize, sequence and manage the capacity of Stores teams
Function as a stakeholder on cross-functional project teams to deliver key strategic initiatives.
Identify areas for productivity and process improvement through analysis and modeling
Participate in events to test and measure process improvements from implemented changes
Form strong partnerships within the Labor Engineering team, Store Operations, HR and Stores Finance

About you:
4 year college degree or equivalent experience
2 - 5 years of experience in an operational environment; retail or supply chain experience preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to convey complex analysis to a wide range of stakeholders
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience leveraging data analysis techniques and tools to inform business decisions
Demonstrated ability to form relationships, influence partners and peers
Manage and plan projects effectively
Manage and adjust multiple priorities in fast-paced environment
Identify, define and resolve ambiguous problems
Resolve problems that are without clear precedent
