About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join the Accounting Tribe Domain. This role is part of a new team in the Tribe, a team that builds and maintains scalable, resilient, and secure software platforms operating in both private cloud environments and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You’ll work at the intersection of infrastructure and application engineering, ensuring seamless deployment and operation of containerized Java and Hadoop-based services.

This role will be key in supporting a hybrid cloud architecture, managing container orchestration, and driving improvements in developer productivity, system reliability, and infrastructure scalability. Your clients will be the engineers in the other Tribes, and you will work together to developer best practices, common tools and frameworks that will make their lives easier.

Responsibilities

  • Be a hands-on engineer involved in analysis, design, design/code reviews, coding and release activities.
  • Champion engineering best practices and guide/mentor team to achieve high performance.
  • Maintain and optimize data processing platforms involving Java, Spring Boot, and Hadoop.
  • Design, build, and maintain platform infrastructure for both private clusters and GCP.
  • Support and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Collaborate with application developers to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable deployments.
  • Containerize applications and manage orchestration with OpenShift.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and automation initiatives.
  • Work closely with teams developing microservices and datamesh architecture.

 

Skills

  • Previous experience as a Developer, preferably in a Platform Engineering role.
  • Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot applications.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (OpenShift or Kubernetes).
  • Experience with Databases – Oracle, Redis/hazelcast, should understand data modeling, normalization, and performance optimization
  • Experience in message queues (RabbitMQ/IBM MQ, JMS) and Data streaming i.e. Kafka, Pub-sub etc.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong experience with datamesh, microservices or other types of distributed architecture.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining services in GCP (or similar cloud platforms).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Knowledge of security and compliance best practices in hybrid cloud environments.
  • Proficient with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Comfort with Linux systems and scripting (Shell, Python, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Git-based workflows and code collaboration.
