Senior Java Developer

The Engineering Excellence Team is for engineers who build the systems that power everything else. No product tickets. No UI tweaks. No support loops. You’ll create the tools, standards, and frameworks that make every development team faster and stronger.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Design and build foundational backend frameworks, libraries, and services that are reused across all engineering teams.
• Define and drive backend architecture standards - from service design and communication patterns to scalability, resilience, and security.
• Create and evolve shared platform solutions (e.g. service templates, common libraries, reference architectures) that accelerate development and reduce duplication.
• Establish best practices for building, testing, and operating Java services, ensuring consistency and high quality across all codebases.
• Develop and maintain core platform capabilities (e.g. service orchestration patterns, API standards, integration approaches) used company-wide.
• Partner with engineering teams to identify inefficiencies, remove bottlenecks, and enable faster, more reliable backend development.
• Drive initiatives to standardize and modernize the backend stack, improving performance, scalability, and maintainability across systems.
• Act as a technical leader through architecture reviews, hands-on guidance, and mentorship, raising the engineering bar across teams.
• Continuously evaluate and introduce tools, patterns, and technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and developer productivity at scale.
  
  

REQUIREMENTS 

• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong expertise in Java and object-oriented design. 
• Solid knowledge of design patterns, system architecture, and scalability principles. 
• Hands-on experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and message-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ). 
• Familiar with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker). 
• Comfortable with automated testing (unit, integration, performance). 
• Proven track record building and supporting production-grade, high-load systems. 
• Thrive in a dynamic, fast-changing environment with shifting priorities. 
• Strong communicator with a proactive, ownership-driven mindset. 
• At least Upper-Intermediate English level.
