A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Senior IT Engineer, User Experience supports Valmont’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT) by ensuring seamless operation of user-facing systems and collaboration tools. The role includes expert support for devices, Zoom, and Microsoft 365, along with maintaining A/V setups in executive spaces. It involves onboarding, training, and acting as a trusted advisor to ELT members. The engineer drives service improvements and ensures secure, efficient technology use across the organization.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the IT Manager, User Experience and has no direct or indirect reports.
  • Potential travel requirements, both domestic and international, including overnight stays.
  • Willingness to comply with international travel regulations and requirements, including immunizations, in the case of international travel.
  • Collaborate with Valmont staff and external partners to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Advise and execute the design, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of user facing Information Technology systems, processes, tasks, tooling, and automation that conform to standards, policies, and establish best practices to ensure the most frictionless experience as possible.
  • Develop and maintain functional documentation that detail standard operating procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to both internal resources and external vendors/solution providers to obtain stakeholder buy in and design and deliver value added services/capabilities to Valmont.
  • Participate as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Major Incident Management Responses to Business Impacting Events and summarize, report, and implement process improvements.
  • Advise, implement, and execute all activities related to continual service improvement processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the User Experience team.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders to understand and meet their service needs.
  • Create required reports in response to business user needs.
  • Use, evaluate, and suggest appropriate tools to sense, alert, triage, respond, remediate, and manage the observability and execution within the IT Ecosystem as required by changing conditions.
  • Responsible for properly tracking and documenting all system problems, changes, and problem resolutions using the company’s ITSM system. 
  • Responsible for properly tracking and documenting all project plans, scheduling, progress, changes, and problem resolutions using the team Project Management tooling. 
  • Create/Maintain rapport and teamwork with all members of Valmont's IT and business staff. 
  • Write and review supporting documentation for the software, such as release notes, help documentation, articles, and features.

 

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Maintains a degree of self-directed activity.
  • Deliver expert level in-person and remote support for Windows, macOS, and mobile OS devices. This includes configuration, maintenance, issue resolution, troubleshooting performance, and compatibility challenges.
  • Ensure seamless integration and support of AI-powered tools within the Microsoft ecosystem (e.g., Microsoft 365 Copilot).
  • Provide seamless access to corporate resources including secure email, collaboration apps, and calendars.
  • Enforce mobile security protocols, manage app provisioning, and provide secure remote wipe and recovery support.
  • Handle travel-related tech needs, including global roaming, VPNs, and device adaptors/connectivity.
  • Provide real-time Zoom support including troubleshooting audio/video quality for room systems, Windows and MAC clients, screen sharing, breakout rooms, and AI-powered Zoom features (e.g., Zoom AI Companion, Smart Meeting Summaries).
  • Maintain high-end A/V equipment in boardrooms and executive spaces with support for Zoom and Teams meetings.
  • Train executives and assistants on advanced Zoom capabilities, including automated transcription, Zoom scheduler and Zoom Addin options.
  • Collaborate with facilities and external vendors to ensure optimal A/V and room system performance.
  • Deliver customized onboarding and 1:1 technology training to new executives and their administrative teams.
  • Coach executives on leveraging advanced and AI-driven features in Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Create quick-reference guides and tailored how-to materials for executive users.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on best practices for secure, efficient, and AI-enhanced technology usage.
  • Anticipate training needs based on usage patterns and changes in the tech stack.

Required Qualifications for Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Preferred Bachelor’s in relevant field with 6+ years relevant experience or Associate’s Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows/macOS, Microsoft 365 (including Teams, Outlook, Excel), Zoom, and mobile device ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting and enabling AI tools within Microsoft (e.g., Copilot) and Zoom (e.g., AI Companion).
  • Expertise in conference room A/V technologies and real-time collaboration tools.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive, high-pressure situations with discretion and professionalism.
  • Exceptional communication (both written and oral), problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to provide after-hours or on-call support for executive needs.

  • Energetic and self-motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and infrastructure teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of proactive and auto-corrective monitoring practices.
  • Experience with ITIL processes, particularly continual service improvement.
  • Proven track record of implementing successful process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and applications.
  • Advanced technical skills, including experience with IT service management tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
