A day in the life
The Senior, Internal Audit is responsible for execution and coordination of our SOX program for designated areas, assists in completion of ITGC control evaluation, and assists in the execution of operational and sustainability control workstreams. This role will work cross‑functionally with Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, IT and Sustainability/ESG to align audit activities with identified priorities, deliver executive‑level reporting, and drive timely remediation.
Key Responsibilities:
SOX / ICFR leadership
- Assist in defining scope, approach, and project specific risks and procedures for SOX audits
- Prepare workpapers, obtain audit evidence and perform audit procedures for annual SOX financial audits
- Coordinate and assist with testing of ITGCs, application controls, key reports, and SOC 1 evaluations
- Analyze and update process narratives and flowcharts
- Conduct annual process walkthroughs with business owners to assess the design of internal controls
- Execute testing of design and operating effectiveness, evaluate deficiencies, and support annual and quarterly certifications.
- Track audit progress, timing, and communicate engagement status to stakeholders
- Work closely with external auditors, assisting them with various requests and sharing best audit practices in order to optimize reliance and obtain a quality audit product
Sustainability / ESG reporting controls (ICSR) leadership
- Collaborate with Sustainability/ESG, Controllership, Legal, and IT to document process flows, risks, controls, and data lineage across metrics (e.g., GHG, energy, water, waste, safety, DEI).
- Evaluate controls over ESG processes, used in sustainability disclosures, including IT dependencies for ESG data
- Support assurance‑readiness for ESG reporting (e.g., SEC climate/ISSB/CSRD as applicable), coordinate evidence requests, and track remediation to closure.
Financial, operational & compliance audits
- Lead planning, fieldwork, reporting, and action‑plan follow‑up for risk‑based audits.
- Leverage analytics and AI to validate populations and surface anomalies.
People leadership, collaboration & reporting
- Participate in and foster a culture of accountability, curiosity, and innovation.
- Strong ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and work jointly with members of Internal Audit
- Support special projects (investigations, system implementations, strategic initiatives).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
- CPA required, CIA or CISA a plus
- 3-5 years of internal audit and/or public accounting experience with SOX 404 and ITGC exposure
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, COSO 2013 framework, and global financial reporting
- Strong documentation, data analysis, stakeholder communication, and project management skills
- Brings a balance of professional skepticism and desire to seek constructive solutions
- Ability to manage, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks required while maintaining flexibility and adaptability to change
- Exposure to real estate accounting, property-level operations, and/or fund structures is highly desirable
Hiring Salary Range of: $100,000 - $140,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
