What this job involves: 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join the Workplace Design Advisory team, providing strategy, change management and design services for workplace, higher education and healthcare clients. This dynamic role involves developing design concepts, strategic occupancy plans, and space optimization solutions that meet client specifications within budget and timeline constraints. This includes day-to-day churn services, needs analysis/validation, stacking, blocking, test fits, etc.

 

The successful candidate will work with internal JLL partners, including Project Delivery Services (PDS/Project Management) and Tenant Representation Groups (TRG/Brokers), as well as clients and external consultants, as required, to ensure timely, successful implementation of space & occupancy planning initiatives. You will have the opportunity to lead high-profile design projects, mentor team members, and contribute to the strategic growth of the firm. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for innovative design, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to build strong client relationships.

What your day-to-day will look like: 

  • Project Leadership • Lead detailed design development and coordinate interior design deliverables across multiple simultaneous projects • Manage project budgets, schedules, and team coordination • Conduct client presentations and project meetings • Collaborate with contractors, MEP/structural/AV/lighting consultants, and client teams • Mentor and train junior and intermediate designers
  • Design & Technical Excellence • Develop innovative design concepts balancing client needs with budget requirements • Review space plans and design concepts for code compliance, accessibility, and functionality • Select materials, finishes, and FF&E per local regulations • Create design communication through 3D visualization and hand-sketching • Prepare design and construction documents • Lead contract administration and review shop drawings/submittals independently • Coordinate building systems integration and apply sustainable design practices
  • Client Relations & Business Development • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers • Manage client expectations and respond promptly to requests • Develop client case studies for marketing materials • Contribute to process improvements for design quality and client service

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program
  • 8+ years of experience in a similar position as a registered Interior Designer. 
  • NCIDQ certification and ARIDO membership
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite and MS Office  
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to collaborate with team members  
  • In-depth knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and industry regulations
  • Awareness of cost estimating and project specification writing  
  • Effective client service skills with ability to manage client expectations or redirect to supervisor as needed
  • Willingness to travel as required for project site visits and client meetings

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • LEED AP certification preferred
  • BCIN Complex an asset
  • Proficiency in Enscape (3D Rendering and Animation), highly desired
  • Knowledge of Master Specification Format would be considered an asset
