Job Summary: This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. Please note that this JOA will close at 11:59PM on the date that the 100th application has been received.

Major Duties:

  • WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Senior Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist , you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Consults, local, and Tribal elected officials, including legislative bodies, regional clients and interest groups to assess the need for new HHS initiatives, regulations or statues. Prepares hot issues and briefing materials for the White House, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Director of IEA and the RD. Serves as senior advisor to the RD on external relations with elected and appointed government officials at the State, local and Tribal levels, including both legislative and executive branches.

Qualifications: WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following: Serving as an advisor or consultant on trends/issues affecting policies and/or programs associated with areas such as healthcare or human services; Developing and presenting information to a variety of stakeholders on program initiatives/policies; Representing and interacting with officials in or out of the government to explain, promote, and resolve issues relating to an agency's mission.
