Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and similar, to automate the provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure resources. Define infrastructure components and security policies, enabling consistent, repeatable, and scalable infrastructure deployments.
  • Container Orchestration: Utilize Kubernetes and other container orchestration platforms to automate deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications and microservices.
  • Cloud Infrastructure and Networking: Manage multiple cloud infrastructures and networks to support software development teams needs. Design, develop and maintain networking across clouds, set up and maintain shared networking services like DNS and API gateways and partner with security to implement and enforce network security controls.
  • Developer Experience: Develop tools and automate processes to increase efficiency and reduce toil for the developer. Let the system work for you instead of fighting it.
  • Multi-Cloud Deployments: Architect and manage multi-cloud deployment strategies to achieve redundancy, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery across geographically distributed cloud regions while optimizing costs associated with cross-cloud data transfer and resource redundancy.
  • Secrets Management: Design and implement secure secrets management solutions to securely store, access, and rotate sensitive credentials, API keys, and certificates used in cloud environments.
  • Continuous Optimization: Optimize cloud infrastructure, CI/CD processes, and security practices to improve performance, reduce costs, and enhance scalability, reliability, and security posture.
  • Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure alignment of DevOps practices with business objectives. Document architecture, design decisions, cost optimization strategies, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the DevOps domain
  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, or GCP, with hands-on experience in cloud services
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLANs, subnetting, and routing
  • Knowledge of firewall configurations and security group management in cloud environments
  • Experience with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or CircleCI 
  • Familiarity with security automation tools and practices in cloud environments
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools for infrastructure automation
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Proven leadership abilities and initiative in driving the establishment of DevOps infrastructure and processes
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and technologies

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Experience with multi cloud environments and networking
  • Certifications relating to responsibilities such as
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
    • AWS/GCP/Azure Certifications
