Senior Industrial Engineer

Manages and coordinates the necessary activities to both optimize existing processes and participate in the industrialization of new products at the plant. Responsible for short-, medium-, and long-term analysis and planning to ensure the effective use of current resources (personnel, materials, machines), the required capacity to meet customer demand, and the early definition of necessary investment if required.

My Role:

  • Design, optimization, coordination, and industrialization of Manufacturing Processes under the guidelines of Lean Manufacturing System Design (MSD)
  • Short-, medium-, and long-term Capacity Analysis and Planning
  • Leader in process optimization (Kaizen) and Continuous Improvement
  • Leads Production Capacity Studies (MRR/CB1)
  • Participates in the development of a 5-year vision for Capacity, Workforce, and Plant Layout Transformation
  • Supports costing of new products and updates cost routes for existing ones
  • Coordinates the definition of operating methods and work standards, as well as improvements to current processes based on customer requirements and process measurements
  • Responsible for Line Balancing and the optimization of space, materials, personnel, and equipment in accordance with customer requirements and process improvements
  • Proposes process improvements to eliminate waste (MUDA, MURI, MURA) and coordinates with other support teams
  • Evaluates personnel safety through ergonomic risk monitoring
  • Recognizes and supports activities related to Personnel Safety and Environmental Protection
  • Coordinates the documentation of Work Instructions that clearly specify the process method to perform the work in a safe, standardized, and optimized manner

My Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Master’s degree or certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence (preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in Industrial Engineering roles within the automotive industry.
  • Proven track record in implementing Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Opex methodologies and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean tools: Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, Kanban, Poka-Yoke.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma principles and statistical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly lines, and production flow.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Macros).
  • Knowledge of quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • AutoCAD experience for layout design and process optimization.
  • Experience with AI tools for data analysis, predictive maintenance, and process automation.
  • Power BI experience (preferable) for data visualization and KPI dashboards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Strong leadership and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in cost reduction projects and efficiency improvement.
  • Ability to lead Kaizen events and train teams in Lean principles.
  • Strong focus on data-driven decision-making and KPI monitoring.
  • Knowledge of automotive industry standards and compliance.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Familiarity with digital manufacturing tools and Industry 4.0 concepts (preferred).
