Your New Role

As the Senior Impact and Ethics Analyst, you’ll be a part of the broader Ethics Research Team responsible for the investment screening, ethical stewardship and impact analytics activities of Australian Ethical. You’ll play an integral role in the rigorous, timely and scalable research of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues and impact measurement as part of our investment process. As well as applying and evolving our ethical frameworks and criteria to research, you’ll engage with companies, develop ethical content, present to relevant stakeholders and assist us in retaining our principled investment leadership. You will also collaborate to build scalable processes, modernise our ethical research systems (including RMS evaluation/implementation), and leverage our internal ethical ratings dataset to generate insights and support innovation.
 
Key Responsibilities Include:
·       Research ESG issues affecting companies and industries as part of our investment process and to support our engagement and advocacy using our internally developed frameworks
·       Engage with investee companies to encourage better management of social and environmental impacts based on this research
·       Analyse and communicate the impacts of our investment portfolios, engagement and advocacy, on people, animals and the environment supporting member, industry and public reporting
·       Develop and maintain Ethics Research systems, tools and databases for our ethical research and other team functions
·       Identify, develop and manage internal and external sources of data and information to help:
o    assess investments against our industry- and issue-specific ethical and impact criteria
o    measure, manage and communicate our investment impact
 
 
What we’re looking for
Whether you’re from a development studies, behavioural / environmental economics, policy or consulting background, you’re a highly competent research analyst who can confidently analyse large volumes of information, navigating shades of grey and complexity to extract key insights. You are an excellent communicator with the ability to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. If you have the following, we’d love to hear from you:

·       5+ years’ experience in a relevant field of research
·       Deep understanding of environmental, social and sustainability challenges and solutions
·       Demonstrated experience applying research principles and undertaking analysis (qualitative and quantitative) to inform business decisions
·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide analysis and insights, and disseminate information accurately and concisely
·       Experience with an RMS (Research Management System)
·       Strong data literacy with ability to interpret and analyse ESG datasets (experience using FactSet, MSCI and ISS desirable)
·       Familiarity with / interest in AI tools for qualitative research
·       Relevant tertiary qualifications
·       Ideally you’re based in Sydney, but if you’re based in Melbourne that’s ok too
