Senior IAM DevOps Engineer

As an IAM DevOps Engineer, you will design, implement and operate our Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) systems and processes to ensure secure, automated provisioning, renewal and retirement of digital certificates across cloud and on‑prem environments. You will apply strong software development skills, cloud platform experience and modern CLM tools and best practices to build scalable, resilient, and auditable certificate services that reduce risk and enable secure machine-to-machine and user-facing communications. You will collaborate with Security, Platform and Application teams to define standards, automate workflows, and support certificate governance.

  • Build, deploy and maintain CLM automation and orchestration workflows (for example AppViewX or equivalent platforms).
  • Design and implement secure, scalable Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM) solutions for the organisation (SSL/TLS and related certificate types).
  • Develop scripts, automation and APIs to integrate CLM with CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, secrets managers, and operational tooling.
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure correct certificate usage, key management and adherence to cryptographic and security best practices.
  • Contribute to Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) readiness projects, including testing and implementing new standards and migration strategies.
  • Help define and maintain policies, standards and guidelines for certificate issuance, renewal, revocation and governance across the organisation.
  • Implement observability, monitoring and alerting for CLM services and use metrics to improve reliability and performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of CLM processes through automation, operational excellence and appropriate use of AI/ML capabilities.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for solutions, runbooks and processes; deliver knowledge‑transfer and training to internal teams as required.
  • Manage vendor relationships: define requirements, review deliverables, and provide operational oversight for third‑party CLM providers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Azure PaaS services and platform concepts.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines (classic and YAML) or equivalent CI/CD systems; able to apply transferable skills to Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Experience with containers and orchestration: Docker, Azure Container Registry, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and Web App for Containers.
  • Understanding of AI concepts and practical experience developing AI agents or agent-based solutions.
  • Experience automating PaaS provisioning using REST APIs.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot deployment, configuration, runtime exceptions and monitoring issues across Azure PaaS services.
  • Knowledge of secret management, including encryption keys, API credentials, certificates and associated processes.
  • Strong understanding of certificate lifecycle management and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
  • Experience working in Agile environments and using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficient with version control systems, particularly GitHub.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform.
  • Experience integrating systems using REST APIs.
  • Strong relationship‑building, collaboration and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Awareness of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and best practices.
