What this job involves:

The Senior HSSE Specialist is a key member of the Property and Asset Management team and is part of a small team that manages the HSSE program for JLL's nation wide portfolio. Periodic travel may be required to various sites to investigate events or situations, as well as travel to various meetings (estimated 10% to 20% travel).

This is a fixed-term contract until the end of November 2026.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Drive HSSE culture across Canadian property management teams to meet and exceed JLL goals through continuous development and refinement of safety practices

  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions using HSE standards and best management practices to prevent injuries, property damage, and environmental impacts

  • Manage accident/incident reporting through JLL's global CMO system, lead investigations, analyze root causes, implement corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, manage designated substances programs (asbestos, lead, PCBs), and oversee Environmental Site Assessments with third-party consultants

  • Develop and execute environmental (70%) and health & safety (30%) programs including legionella, storage tanks, air emissions, hazardous chemicals, and refrigerant management

  • Conduct gap analysis and audits against legal and internal requirements, develop HSE documentation (playbooks, procedures), support employee training, and manage new property onboarding

  • Collaborate with HSSE Americas and Global teams to implement compliance programs, support ESG initiatives, and assist with building certification programs (BOMA Best)

Required Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of experience in a HSSE role.

  • Post Secondary degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, environmental risk management, or relevant field

  • Broad-based knowledge of environmental, safety and occupational health regulations across Canada.

  • Experience in managing and mitigating HSE risks related to operations.

  • Rigorous, structured, and analytical mind.

  • Ability to autonomously manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to extract and clearly communicate key messages to peers, operations teams, executive leadership, and clients.

  • Creative problem-solving skills, global thinking and ability to employ intelligent flexibility with pragmatic solutioning.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual French-English preferred.

  • Relevant professional certification(s) a plus.

Estimated compensation for this position:

100,000.00 – 120,000.00 CAD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
