Job Summary

Exciting opportunity to join the ConocoPhillips HSE team as Senior HSE Coordinator, Health and Safety Work Practices.

Position Overview

The Senior HSE Coordinator, Health & Safety Work Practices, is responsible for developing and managing programs that address HSE risks, ensure compliance, and improve HSE performance, operational integrity, and reliability in alignment with business requirements. Reporting to the HSE Programs Director, this position covers all areas of Health and Safety, including personal and process safety, occupational health, return‑to‑work, and injury management processes.

This role leads initiatives that foster innovation, promote organisational learning, and drive continuous improvement in the development and application of HSE programs and procedures.

Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • ​​Maintain Operating Management System (OMS) HSE Safe Work practices and support rollout of BU HSE programs.

  • Provide field‑based HSE coaching and support safety leadership initiatives.

  • Use Intelex to assist with incident input, tracking, trending, and closure.

  • Support effective safety meetings and deliver hazard‑specific training.

  • Lead or assist with incident investigations and support leading indicator programs.

  • Analyse HSE data to drive improvement and participate in internal/external audits.

  • Contribute to crisis management and emergency response planning and training.

  • Develop and support processes for managing psychosocial hazards and health risks.

  • Provide guidance on workplace health standards and support Return to Work processes in line with WHS Queensland requirements.

You will bring to the role:

  • Cultural alignment with ConocoPhillips’ SPIRIT Values.

  • ​​Tertiary qualification in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.

  • 7+ years’ HSE or Operations experience, including strong competency with HSE/Operations Management Systems, auditing, and document reviews.

  • Solid knowledge of HSE standards, regulations, monitoring strategies, and toxicology.

  • Experience in industrial hygiene, psychosocial hazard management, health risk assessments, and Return to Work (RTW) processes.

  • Understanding of Safety Case requirements and HSE/OMS procedure development and administration.

  • Proficient in incident management software (e.g., Intelex).

  • Willing to travel up to 15% annually.

Preferred:

  • ​​Master’s degree in a relevant HSE field (e.g., Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Engineering).

  • Professional HSE certifications (GSP, OHST, ASP) and aspiration toward CSP or CIH.

  • Advanced expertise in HSE/Operations Management Systems, including procedure development and program administration.

  • 3+ years’ experience leading Tier 2–3 audits and driving actions to close findings.
