We are currently hiring a Senior Guidewire Cloud Developer to join our Insurance Business Technology team based in our Head Office in Burnaby, reporting to the Manager, Insurance Business Technology. 

 

As a Senior Guidewire Cloud Developer, you will act as a senior technical authority supporting the migration and evolution of BCAA’s Guidewire platform to the Guidewire Cloud Platform. You will provide technical leadership across configuration, integrations, and cloud-based solutions, ensuring alignment with Guidewire standards, security requirements, and long-term platform sustainability. 

 

This role plays a critical part in driving technical excellence, guiding development practices, and ensuring high-quality delivery across PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and associated integrations. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and vendors to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while supporting the organization’s broader transformation objectives.

What you’ll do:  

  • Act as the senior technical authority for Guidewire PolicyCenter and BillingCenter during cloud migration initiatives. 

  • Provide technical design oversight and validate configurations, integrations, and cloud solutions. 

  • Review solution designs and code to ensure alignment with Guidewire Cloud standards and BCAA architecture principles. 

  • Deliver hands-on configuration and extensions using Guidewire Studio, including PCF, rules, workflows, and data model updates. 

  • Own end-to-end technical designs across configuration, customization, and integrations, ensuring long-term maintainability. 

  • Lead code reviews and enforce coding standards to ensure quality, performance, and consistency. 

  • Support defect triage, root cause analysis, and resolution during testing and stabilization phases. 

  • Partner with architecture, integration, and security teams to support cloud integration patterns and secure design practices. 

  • Contribute to the development of Guidewire Cloud standards, integration patterns, and best practices. 

  • Support CI/CD alignment, environment readiness, and production deployment activities. 

  • Promote observability practices including logging, monitoring, and traceability for integrations and services. 

  • Mentor developers and support capability building across the team. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on delivery, risks, and technical approaches. 

  • Identify opportunities to improve platform stability, scalability, and operational processes. 

  • Stay current with Guidewire Cloud capabilities and apply learnings to enhance platform performance. 

 

What you bring:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience. 

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Guidewire development, including PolicyCenter and/or BillingCenter. 

  • Active Guidewire certification aligned to PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, or integrations. 

  • Strong hands-on experience with Guidewire Studio, including PCF, rules, workflows, and data model configuration. 

  • Proficiency in Gosu and Java with strong object-oriented design skills. 

  • Experience integrating Guidewire applications using REST and SOAP APIs. 

  • Experience working with cloud-based Guidewire implementations or migration initiatives. 

  • Strong experience designing and documenting end-to-end technical solutions. 

  • Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing development standards. 

  • Strong understanding of secure engineering practices for APIs and integrations. 

  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments and supporting sprint planning and estimation. 

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proven ability to mentor developers and drive best practices across teams. 

  • Bonus Skills!   

  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform implementations or migrations. 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release management practices. 

  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools. 

  • Experience supporting data migration activities for core insurance systems. 

  • Knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance processes. 

 

The salary range for this position is $100,306.20 to $125,382.84 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%. 

 

Please note that this is a hybrid role based out of our Burnaby, BC office (3 on-site / 2 remote days). Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Head Office or are not looking to relocate to the Greater Vancouver/Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley region will not be considered.
