Senior Golang Developer- Cloud & Kubernetes

How You Will Contribute:

This role reports into the Software Engineering organization and focuses on building scalable, cloud-native platforms that support Ciena’s high-performance networking solutions.

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance applications using Go, with a strong focus on scalability, optimization, and debugging

  • Develop and debug Python-based applications for automation, tooling, and services

  • Perform advanced Linux OS–level debugging and troubleshooting

  • Architect, deploy, and operate workloads on Kubernetes, with strong understanding of Kubernetes internals and networking

  • Design, build, and optimize Helm charts for complex Kubernetes deployments

  • Develop cloud-native applications for public and private cloud environments

  • Integrate and manage Identity Providers (IDP) and authentication services within cloud applications

The Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in Go development, with working experience in Python

  • Strong expertise in Go with proven debugging and troubleshooting skills

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes architecture, networking, and operational aspects

  • Proficiency in Python for automation, scripting, and application development

  • Strong knowledge of gRPC and gNMI protocols and APIs

  • Advanced expertise in Linux OS and system-level debugging

  • Experience creating and maintaining Helm charts and optimizing Kubernetes resources.

Assets:

  • Experience with OpenShift, VMware Tanzu, and public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

  • Understanding of cloud-native services, microservices architecture, and integration patterns

  • Experience implementing cloud security best practices to protect applications, infrastructure, and data

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a performance-driven mindset

  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, agile, and globally distributed teams

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and cross-functional teams
