Department Overview

The Wealth Investment Office (WIO) is TD Wealth’s source for investment management strategy. We empower advisors and portfolio managers across TD Bank Group’s Wealth Management division — including Financial Planning, Private Wealth Management and Family Office — by delivering the knowledge and tools to execute an efficient and consistent approach to Professional Investment Management. This is not a place for people stuck in neutral. WIO is a dynamic, multifaceted, multi-channel group working on numerous priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.  WIO is embedded in the heart of TD Wealth Management for maximum impact on all the firm's investment advice professionals.

WIO provides holistic portfolio management, counsel and guidance across a broad range of investment methodologies including traditional, endowment and risk-aware allocations. WIO is the portfolio manager of Core Asset Allocation, Core Risk Priority Portfolios, Core Fixed Income, Core Equity, and CoreQ Quantamental Equity Portfolios.

WIO plays a role in the education and ongoing support of TD Wealth advisors through numerous internal and client-facing publications, as well as presentations, seminars and one-on-one communications to advisors.

Job Description

The Senior Fundamental Portfolio Manager will work with the Senior Quantitative Portfolio Manager in managing and growing the Core North American Equity platform, specifically with a focus on fundamental North American Equities.

Using TD Wealth’s existing philosophy, strategy and tactics, the Fundamental Portfolio Manager will manage equity model portfolios, actively engage with investment advisors and portfolio managers including inquiries on mandate positions, and strategy, as well as being a deep source of fundamental views on North American equities. The Senior Fundamental Portfolio Manager also actively contributes to WIO publications including our Portfolio Strategy Quarterly, Monthly Perspectives and Market Insights, and other thought pieces as they become relevant to communicate to the field.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about and have a keen understanding of North American equities, the drivers affecting equity returns, and constructing equity portfolios to provide diversified exposure towards risk-adjusted returns;

  • Contribute to equity market-related publications and conference calls;

  • Understand the TD Wealth Strategy process philosophy, strategy and tactics and how they can be leveraged to manage equity mandates

  • Have direct experience working with high net worth investment advisors, portfolio managers and financial planners and understand the business dynamics, structure and goals of our professional advice channels;

  • Participate in advisor training, coaching, branch presentations and road shows regularly;

  • Support WIO initiatives that may not be directly related to equity research and portfolio management.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of North American equity markets and GICS sectors more broadly with a minimum ten years of experience analyzing or supporting the management of managed equity solutions;

  • Expert knowledge and competence using Bloomberg, FactSet, as well as MS Excel modeling and chart visualization and PowerPoint presentations;

  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to articulate all aspects of equities management and return drivers to an audience with different levels of sophistication including regular communication with TD wealth investment advisors;

  • Ability to communicate research findings clearly through both first-draft written articles and first-draft written presentations;

  • Strong relationship-management skills required to interact with TD Wealth advisor teams;

  • Advanced degree in economics, math or other quantitative discipline preferred

  • CFA charter holder;
