About the role:


Reporting to Team Leader, Hong Kong & China, the successful candidate will become responsible for managing Greater China/Chinese equities funds investing in Greater China/Chinese equities. This role is expected to conduct own fundamental research to develop high conviction, while leveraging research, investment ideas and recommendations of sector analysts in the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fund management responsibilities including retail funds and institutional client portfolios, investing in Greater China/Chinese equities.

  • Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis on Chinese equities, share sectoral coverage responsibilities with investment teams, to determine investment merits and risks.

  • Participate in internal portfolio review meetings and meetings/livestreams/teach-ins/roadshows with clients and consultants to discuss investment process, review performance & risk of portfolios, review strategy, outlook, active bets and portfolio changes.

  • Work closely with sales to grow Greater China/Chinese equity AUM and pitch for new business. Be mindful of opportunities to develop new products.

  • Work closely with Asia ex Japan investment team and with our JV partner, Invesco Great Wall, to leverage research and discover new opportunities in China.

Requirement:

The ideal candidate should be able to clearly articulate a robust investment philosophy and process. Proven track record of at least 3-5 years investing in Greater China/Chinese equities (including China A-shares), and is expected to be an effective communicator who, with the support of our Client Portfolio Managers, can build/strengthen relationships of trust with key internal and external stakeholders, including local/overseas institutional investors, consultants and distributors.

  • Bachelor’s degree holder in Finance / Accounting / Economics or related discipline.

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in being an analyst and portfolio manager of Greater China/Chinese equities (onshore and offshore).

  • Proven strong performance track record in stock picking, portfolio construction and generating strong risk-adjusted performance for Greater China/Chinese equity funds.

  • Strong writing and communications skills in English and Mandarin Chinese a must.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust and relationships.

  • Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers.
