Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

What does a successful Fullstack Engineer do at Clover?

In this role, you will be an experienced engineer helping to improve and expand our platform and product. You will accomplish this by maintaining and adding new features, investigating/resolving bugs, creating helpful documentation, and re-architecting our system to achieve better scalability and availability.

As part of the Growth and Merchant Self-Service team, you will be responsible for building applications that define the user experience on the Clover Dashboard. Partnering with Infrastructure, Product, and Design teams, you will be pragmatic in balancing priorities and enjoy working in an iterative model where specifications are constantly evolving. You will own your services from development through deployment, mentor junior talent, and help drive the technical roadmap for products that support over 700k merchants worldwide.

What you will do:

  • Architect, design, and develop web-based front-end and microservices backend applications mainly using Java, Javascript, Typescript, React and Python

  • Evaluate and recommend modern frameworks, technologies, and tools, and execute the corresponding processes.

  • Design, implement, and maintain REST APIs for devices and web clients including our web dashboard, devices, mobile apps and 3rd party apps

  • Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives

  • Own your services/features from development through deployment and production monitoring

  • Participate in design/code reviews.

  • Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models that support large-scale highly available services

  • Work with QA to develop test plans/strategies

  • Participate in a regular on call and release management rotation

  • Collaborate with cross-functional, distributed agile teams with the flexibility to work across time zones.

  • Architect, build, and maintain robust, scalable, reliable, highly available, and performant applications.

  • Coach and mentor engineers to deliver efficient, extensible solutions and improve their technical and leadership skills.

  • Advocate engineering best practices by actively engaging and leveraging agile methods and a CI/CD DevOps mindset.

  • Triage bugs and their impact on product or service operations and quality, focusing on customer centricity

  • Prioritize and multi-task between projects with the ability to handle changing priorities.

  • Help to define the vision, strategy, and own, and drive the software technical roadmap.

  • Excellent team player with strong empathy and critical thinking skills.

What you will need to have:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field or related experience

  • 5+ years of industry experience

  • Strong coding skills; Java is our first choice of primary language

  • Experience with Spring Boot for building microservices

  • Professional experience with React and TypeScript

  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and document databases (e.g., MongoDB).

What would be great to have:

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Pub/Sub, K8, Lambda run, LLM prompting techniques, Kotlin and Python

  • Previous experience in the payments or fintech industry

  • Background in re-architecting systems for high availability and scalability

Salary Range

$90,000.00 - $144,000.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
