Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
We are seeking multiple talented Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing Westpac’s digital applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Your expertise in both front end and back end technologies will be crucial in delivering high quality software solutions. This includes ongoing solution design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of features.

Participate in code reviews and ensure software engineering best practices are met.
Analyse requirements and propose technical solutions.
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications with high availability and performance in mind.
Deliver sprint commitments on time and contribute to Agile development practices.
Create, review, and maintain documentation throughout the SDLC.
Conduct proof of concepts to identify optimal solutions.
Use Jira and Confluence effectively for project tracking and collaboration.
Respond promptly to production incidents by troubleshooting and providing solutions.
Implement shift-left testing and automation practices to detect and resolve defects early.
Work independently to design APIs and components with support from Architects.
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders, incorporating feedback where appropriate.
Adapt to changing priorities and demands while maintaining quality.
Debug, resolve, and support technical issues as they arise.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
At least 8 years of commercial experience in full stack development with a strong focus on Java.
Proficiency with latest LTS JDK, Spring Boot (or other microservice frameworks), Hibernate, and OpenAPI.
Understanding and experience with implementation of the test pyramid.
Proficiency in front end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Redux, Webpack.
Micro Front End experience is beneficial.
Experience in DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and deployment automation.
Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Webdriver.io, and RestAssured.
Solid knowledge across networking, database, and API.
Experience with observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
Ability to work independently to deliver solutions from basic requirements.
Strong communication skills and ability to contribute effectively in team meetings.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Passion for best practices and producing high quality code.
Experience debugging complex systems.
