The Role

We are seeking a Senior Full-stack Software Engineer to join SoFi’s AI Financial Actions & Recommendations team. This team is building the intelligence layer that powers SoFi’s Financial AI Agent — turning member goals and financial data into trusted, actionable recommendations and seamless execution opportunities across the SoFi ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to design and build a high-impact service from the ground up, shaping the architecture and systems that connect financial guidance to real-world action. This role will work at the forefront of Generative AI, integrating with SoFi’s Financial AI Agent to deliver intelligent, context-aware, and compliant experiences that help members take confident financial steps.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, product-minded, and pragmatic, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for both code quality and the end-to-end product experience. At SoFi, close partnership across Product, Design, and Engineering is core to how we work, and you will be involved throughout the entire product lifecycle—from ideation and design to implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement. We also value a culture of continuous learning, and you will be encouraged to invest in your own growth while mentoring and supporting fellow team members.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design, development and testing of software across the entire stack, from mobile/web interfaces to backend microservices.
  • Code Quality: Lead code reviews and models engineering excellence across both frontend and backend repositories.
  • Execution: Translate product requirements to design and execution plan, with high quality and focus on polished UI/UX.
  • Collaboration: Communicate effectively with project leads, engineering managers, and fellow developers to coordinate complex feature launches.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 4+ years of professional programming experience on a modern full-stack architecture.
  • Frontend Expertise: Proficiency in React (web) is a must. We use Flutter (mobile) for building mobile UX.
  • Backend Knowledge: 3+ years of experience with Java or Kotlin. Our core stack is Kotlin/Spring/PostgreSQL/DynamoDB.
  • Experience and enthusiasm leveraging LLM/AI tools to increase your efficiency as an engineer.

Nice to have:

  • Generative AI: experience working with LLM technologies, such as agents, prompt engineering and evaluation
  • Cross-Platform Skills: Dual experience in both React and Flutter is a major plus.
  • Systems Architecture: Experience working with asynchronous and event-based systems (queues, streams).
  • Database Scaling: Hands-on experience with both SQL and No-SQL (DynamoDB) at scale.
  • Infrastructure: Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and service-oriented architectures.
